1.45 - grayson

i dropped the dumbbells to the blue mat beneath my feet. i looked around me, still surprised that there was so many people here. i never would've thought so many people came to clarke's, but then again i could only imagine it just being charlie and i at four a.m. it had been nearly a week since the last time we'd been here, though. anger pulsed through me from my interaction with ethan, and i knew this was the only was to settle my rage. i had been lifting for a half hour now, but that wasn't why i came here. i came here to run.

sweat beaded at the top of my forehead, trickling down the side of my face. my breathing was heavy, but the kind of heavy that i enjoyed. this didn't scare me. i had been running for quite some time now, but i was still driven by the anger from my brother to continue. i pushed the setting up a notch on the treadmill, although it had already been on fourteen miles an hour. i was determined to hit the thirty minute marking for my run.

"i thought i'd find you here," a voice said, startling me. i looked over to charlie standing beside the treadmill, her hand resting on the bar of the machine. i must have been too concentrated on running that i didn't even notice her. her dark hair was in a high ponytail at the top of her head and her eyes twinkled with humor. she was wearing a black camisole tucked into a pair of grey sweatpants.

i grinned back at her, turning the machine down to six miles per hour so that i could jog while talking to her. "how'd you know? it's not four a.m."

"it's always four a.m. when i'm with you," she said softly.

"are you saying you're tired of me?" i tease, smirking at her. she rolled her eyes at me.

"never." she paused, smiling at me fondly. her words made my heart race. i'd never get used to her. the way she made me feel. yes, i craved her love, but meeting her is what gave me the strength i have today. i'd never get tired of seeing her.

"i knew you didn't work today and i figured you would've been done with talking to ethan by now," she continued.

"yeah, i figured i'd blow off some steam before i came home to see you."

"so i take that it didn't go well," she questioned, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms. i sighed in response, shutting of the treadmill completely.

"i rammed him into a wall and broke a lamp," i confess, bringing her towards the bench near us. her mouth drops open.

"how hard did you push him?"

"well... i didn't push him that hard. i didn't want to hurt him, just scare him," i elaborated, "i broke the lamp when i was walking out." she nodded, humming to herself. her eyebrows were furrowed deep in thought, finally she sighed and looked to me.

"are you ready to get back to running?" she smirked.

"are you kidding? i just ran for a half hour!"

"i was thinking we'd try something different," i nodded at her, looking for her to say more. her lips turned upwards before she spoke.

"let's run outside."
