Your Comfort

As you sit and watch me cry
Would you ever stop to think
That perhaps I too am beautiful
With each tear and every blink
Would you then dry my eyes
As puffy and red as they may be
And gingerly kiss the trail of tears
And bandage up my scrapped knee
Then embrace me firmly with your tenderness
Gently tuck that hair behind my ear
Hold my head in your cradling hands
And whisper that I no longer should fear
For if you are the one by my side
For the rest of our forever
Comfort me my lovely dear
With each tear and endeavor
So as I sob in your presence
Please stop to ponder and think
That I'll be the one to stroke your back
For you when it's your turn to blink
