Chances on Love

Confrontation

"Au.... nt.."
Pete addressed the woman with a stammering voice.

The woman didn't bother to answer but her lips thinned into a fine line.. then turned her back to go out the door..

Ae left already to take his test's and they were left inside the room..

"Aunt... I.." Pete continued..

The woman stopped but didn't look back..
"Don't bother Pete.. Things has not changed.. I will never accept you.."

Pete fought the urge to cry but he wanted to check if his hunch was right..

"I know that you will never accept me.. but,... but, I... just want to understand.. why... why are you doing these things to me Aunt?"
"Do you hate me that much Aunt??"
"Please tell me what do I need to do for you to fully accept me?"

Pete saw the old woman froze..
After a few seconds she answered with a uncaring tone
"I can't answer your questions one by one Pete, youngster's nowadays always do things because they think it's right."

"And you are not an exemption. You will never understand.. because you will never become a parent Pete... and I love my son... so I will not let you ruin him."

Pete was confused..
She didn't exactly confirmed anything..
Maybe he was wrong to suspect her?
Was it all Chompoo's doing?

The older woman finally turned around to look at Pete whose thoughts were written all over his pale face.

"Yes..",
she swallowed difficultly as she was trying to control her own emotions.

"I have known for a while that you're back.. I know that you have been seeing my son again Pete.. I am afterall Ae's mother.."

"But as his mom, I need to do what I think is best.. My feelings and thoughts will never change.. I will not accept you as Ae's lover."

"And I did talk to Chompoo about Ae."

Pete's eyes widened..
Did Ae's mom just affirmed what he was thinking?

Pete felt exhausted..
He felt he went backwards, back when Ae's mom was telling him to leave his son..

Pete wanted to cry but he can't loose face again..

"So you knew all along Aunt?"
"All of these things that has been happening?"
"Were you the one who ordered Chompoo to do those things Aunt?!"
Pete asked as he felt betrayed and disappointed.

"I don't know what Chompoo has been doing .."
"I did told her to do everything she can to get Ae.."
she said in a prickly manner, "But, Whatever she did, that is her own decision."
"All I wanted was for her to be with Ae.. You would not know anything but when you left.. Chompoo is the one always checking on him, poor girl, Ae was so preoccupied with you and he never even gave her any regards until she decided to give up. She far more deserve my son.. than you do.. plus she can give my Ae a son!"

Pete didn't know about Chompoo..
He felt his heart ache for her..
She has been inlove with Ae for a long time..
All the years of unrequited love..

Pete felt his tears strolling down gently and sighed.. "Aunt, being a parent doesn't always need to be associated to having kids or building a family.."

"I understand that what you think maybe is the best for Ae.. and.. I'm really sorry to hear about Chompoo, but have you ever thought of what Ae wants.. or what he really needs?"

"Being a parent is not limited to a family with kids.. but can apply to being responsible for yourself and your partner.."

"Haven't you thought of what Ae may feel if he knew about this Aunt?"

Pete wiped his tears using his palms..
"I won't let you.. Aunt.. separate us!"
"Me and Ae.. we will never break up.. and no one and nothing can ever go between us again!" He said in conviction.

The old woman turned her back from him...
"This thing that you both have will never be acceptable.. Your relationship will ruin Ae's future."

"This is not love Pete.. My son is not gay.. Don't make him a sinner like you Pete!"

"I begged you in the past Pete to let go of Ae what made you changed your mind,?.. Why did you have to come back? Is it because you think Ae is successful now and you are at the same level?"

Pete looked at the woman..
"I never planned on meeting Ae Aunt.. It just happened naturally.."

"We can try to deny everything Aunt.. but our paths were meant to cross.."

The old woman snickered..
"If you really love my son as you say you do! Then you shouldn't have left him years ago just because I warned you.. You didn't even put up a fight Pete.."

"Is this the kind of love you are referring to?"

Pete was stunned..
He couldn't say another word as what she said was true.. He didn't even stood up to fight and just allowed himself to follow her request..

"You maybe right Aunt.. I just gave up.. but not because I didn't love your son.. I love him.. more than anything.." Pete tried to fight his threatening tears,

"I respect you Aunt.. and Ae loved you so much.."
"If there was one thing that I could never replace in his heart.. that is the love he has for you.."
"You are his own flesh and blood.. His mother.. so I decided that Ae should just hate me.. in turn he can continue to recognize you as someone who truly deserves his respect.."

"A mother who loves his son unconditionally.."
"You are free to use my love as an excuse Aunt... But I know Ae can never blame you.. or would he.. feel otherwise, if he finally learns the truth?"

Ae's mom was suprised for a moment but quickly got a hold of her pace.
"Are you threatening me in telling Ae about my actions? And would you think he would believe you if you tell him the truth?"

"I don't need to Aunt.."
"I will patiently wait.. until he finds out the truth.."
Pete said with sadness in his eyes..
"Ae's heart may break because of you Aunt.. but I'll be there to mend it.. piece by piece.."

The old woman's face was unreadable..
She turned around and left..

Pete slided on the bed and sat..
He couldn't believe what just happened..
He was trembling hard...
He pressed the emergency button..
He is having a panic attack..
He can't breathe..
He felt suffocated...
It has been a while since he had his last attack..
His whole body is shivering..
Cold sweats are forming on his forehead..
He feels his chest behind squeezed roughly..

He reached his hand on the emergency button and tried to press it..

The nurse quickly came and called a Doctor..
The old woman who just went out quickly came back in as he saw the nurse rush to the room she just vacated..

She went out as soon as she saw what's happening and laid her back to the wall with tears falling.

"Even I myself.. couldn't explain why?"
"Why I can't let you two be happy Pete?.."
"Ae may hate me.. but I just can't allow him to be with someone like you.."
