"Don't worry, Y/N! I have plenty of years left."

A Life LessonIt's a bright new day, and you awaken to the smell of fresh banya bread. Someone must have left it out for you when they made breakfast, and you have a sneaking suspicion it was Impact.
Sighing, you take the plate outside with you, eating as you walk. Everyone seems to be in the restaurant today, and all over town, there are 'Grand Reopening' signs.
As you reach the door to your mom's office, you're stopped by someone tapping on your shoulder.
"(Y/N)! I see you got my banya bread, heh. I had to stay up all night just so I could be the first one in the queue! Anyway, how's it going?" Impact blushes, as you wave.
"I'm fine. I was gonna talk with Mom about what we should do with Yvonne. She stayed with you last night, but we need to find her a permanent home..." You sigh, worried about the small child.
Not only that, but you can't help the nagging feeling that you're forgetting something important about her, even though you've never met before now.
"Ah, alright...I'll, uh, see you later." Impact says rather quickly, eager to leave. He takes a few steps away from you, but swiftly turns back around again.
"Oh! I forgot to ask! (Y/N), what's your favourite animal again?" He asks sheepishly, as you giggle.
"(favourite animal), dummy. I thought you knew that."
"Yeah! I did! I was checking, just in case I- nevermind!" He stutters, before running off quickly again. You giggle a little, then enter your mom's office.

"Mom! Hey, I'm here to talk about Yvonne?" You call, making your way towards her desk, where you sit down opposite her.
"Ah, yeah... can you draw a house for her? I'm sure you can get Emily to look after her." She replies, as you shake your head.
"Nah. I can't draw whatever I please in the Book of Life, or else, well..." You begin, gesturing outside the window, where plenty of shadows still remain.
"I see. Well, Impact will just have to keep accomodating her for now. Anyway (Y/N), I have something more important to talk to you about." Your mom quickly changes the subject, becoming more serious.
"I've spoken with Farmer Brown and Chef Cookie. With their endorsement, I've decided it's time for you to start your training. Seven generations of our family have led this village...you'll be the eight! And a fine mayor you'll make!" She exclaims, clearly trusting you. Meanwhile, you're not shocked, more confusec then anything.
"Uhm...I dunno, Mom, I'm pretty busy, y'know, being the new Creator and all. Anyway, are you...feeling ok?" You smile polietly, not sure how to react.
"Don't worry, (Y/N)! I have plenty of years left. But somebody will have to take my place eventually." She shrugs, as you sigh.
"Alright, I guess I'll do my best..." You smile reluctantly. Well, you knew this would happen one day. But why now?
I'm coming back for your mommy soon.
You flinch, but quickly dismiss the thought. Your mom's right. It's time to step up to your responsibilities.
"Wonderful! I'll have to arrange a festival, it's been tradition since before your grandfather was mayor!" She smiles, shuffling around in the masses of papers on her desk, and quickly gets back to work again.
"I'll see you around, then." You wave awkwardly, leaving your mom to brainstorm away.

"Me, the Mayor? What do you think, Impact?" You laugh, recounting what had happened to your friend.
"Well, I think you'd do great, (Y/N)! Anyway, do you think Emily will find Melody in time, so she can perform in the festival?" Impact blushes, as you facepalm. Of course he's more interested in the festival.
"I guess we'll just have to see."
