Godric's Hollow
1899
Albus sat in his bedroom, staring up at the ceiling. The moon from outside the window was the only source of light in the dark room. He sighed softly as he changed positions, trying to fall asleep. Though his day had been an exhausting one of what seemed like endless research, he was struggling to fall asleep. He shifted again, turning face first into his pillow and screaming in frustration at his inability to fall asleep.
Then came a faint knock on the window. Albus rolled his eyes, forcing himself out of bed. He knew who it was at the window; there was only one person it could be - Gellert Grindelwald. He loved the other, but he was still annoyed at how often he came to his room in the middle of the night.
Albus unlocked his window and slid it open.
"Hey," he greeted in a tired voice.
Gellert nearly threw himself into the room, throwing his arms around the other and hugging him tightly.
"Gellert! What the hell are yo-" Albus froze once he got a look at the others face. He was crying. Now, Albus had only known Gellert for about a month, but there's one thing he knew. And that thing was that Gellert Grindelwald did not cry. And if he did, he would never let anyone see.
"What's wrong?" Albus asked softly, hugging him back gently.
Gellert mumbled something into Albus' shoulder that he couldn't quite understand.
"Love, I can't understand you," Albus said gently.
The blonde wizard sighed before responding a bit clearer.
"Nightmare..." he muttered.
Albus' jaw dropped slightly. Gellert was not someone he had pinned to get scared by nightmares. He already knew that he must've dreamt of something awful. He led Gellert to his bed, slowly helping him sit down. He sat down next to him, hugging the other close to himself.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Albus asked softly.
The other shook his head.
"Do you need anything?"
He nodded.
"What is it?"
"Well...I...Nevermind. It's stupid," he said, starting to stand up.
"No, Gellert. What do you need?"
"God, it's so stupid. You'll think I'm like 2."
"No, no. Whatever you need..."
"Promise you won't make fun of me?"
"I promise."
"Could I sleep with you?" Gellert asked. "Not sexually or anything!" he added on quickly, "I just don't want to be alone..."
Albus nodded slightly, hugging him close. "Of course. That's fine."
"You sure?"
"I'm sure."
Albus pulled the other a bit closer, pulling him down slightly to lay with him. It took a bit to get comfortable, but eventually the two were laying in Albus' bed, wrapped in each other's embrace.
Their legs tangled together, Albus' arms were slung around the other's shoulders gently, Gellert's arms holding Albus around the torso firmly. Gellert's head rested on Albus' shoulder. He had stopped crying, but his cheeks were still stained with tears.
"Darling?" Gellert asked quietly.
"Yes?" Albus responded.
"I...I actually do want to talk about the dream..." he said.
"Well, whenever you're ready to talk, I'm listening."
Gellert nodded slightly before he began to speak.
"So, we were kissing. We were in my room, and I forgot to lock the door. So, my aunt came in. And she got really mad. Threatened to disown me. We tried to run away, but she was so mad. She started firing curses. Unforgivable curses. I know she'd never actually cast the killing curse, but in the dream she did. And..And it..."
"And it what, Gellert?"
"...It hit you."
"Oh, Gellert," Albus said, hugging him a bit tighter. "It's alright. I'm alright. I'm here. You're here. We're both here. We're both safe."
Gellert nodded slightly, holding onto him a lot tighter.
Just five minutes later, Albus glanced down at the blonde wizard, sleeping peacefully in his arms. He smiled slightly at the sight.
Albus bit his bottom lip softly, thinking. There was something he had always wanted to say aloud to the other. But, he wasn't sure how we would react. So, this was certainly the best time to do it.
The ginger took a deep breath before speaking. "I love you, Gellert."
"I love you too, Albus," the other muttered.
Albus blushed violently. "I...I didn't know you were awake..."
"I'm glad I was," Gellert responded with a tired smile.
Albus smiled back happily, leaning down a bit to kiss him. Gellert smiled a bit make against the others lips, kissing him back softly.
"Albus?" Gellert asked softly.
"Yeah?"
"Tell anyone about tonight, and I'll harvest your toes."
"Understood."
"Love you."
"Love you too, you crazy bastard."
