I barely walked through the mudroom door before Mom had her arms around me.

"Oh, Angel!" I'm glad you're home safe." she exclaimed.

Though I completely understood why, I was completely caught off guard, specifically with the fact that my mom was NOT a hugger. In fact, she was usually pretty anti-hugging. You could imagine we were not a very cuddly family. I mean, I don't mind hugs, I give them to the point it drives my mom crazy, but my mom definitely was not.

Regardless, I hugged her back, though it still felt awkward. "Yeah mom, I'm fine. Don't worry." I replied.

She released me and took a step back. "Are you hurt? Did he hurt you?"

"No." I said quickly, yet politely. I had already told her that when I called her.

"Did you see him again?" she asked urgently.

"No." I shook my head.

"Did he follow you here?"

I shrugged. "I don't know, but I doubt it. I left straight after school, and even took the long way home."

"Did you have work?"

"No."

"Why didn't you come home at your parent release time?" she demanded.

"I thought I could use student traffic at regular out-time as cover, just to be safe."

"What did you do during that time?"

"Homework."

She looked down and took a breath. She shook her head as she looked back up. "Okay, okay. I'm just glad you're safe." she said calmly. She pointed toward the entryway. "Now go upstairs and pack enough for the next couple of days."

She started for the kitchen, but I followed closely behind. She grabbed a bag that was open on top of the counter.

"Where's Niall?" I asked urgently.

"Downstairs." she answered. "He's packing too, I told him what happened. Now please go pack."

"Where are we going?" I demanded.

"Grandma Parkinson's."

"And what about Niall?"

"I just told you, he's downstairs, packing.

"No, I mean what's going to happen with him?" I clarified.

She sighed, "You're guess is as good as mine." She sounded irritated.

Okay, I know we're all on edge right now, but REALLY?

"Mom," I said in the same tone she gave me, "I'm not leaving Niall. His flight is coming to get him in only two days, I can't just leave him on his own now!"

"Angel, we're not leaving him." she intercepted. "That's not what I was saying, I thought you meant... something else."

She grabbed a handful of granola bars and shoved them into the bag that now rested at her feet. I was more confused than ever as I watched her.

"Then, what's going on? I don't understand."

She grabbed some frozen water bottles from the freezer and put them in the same bag.

"Niall is coming with us." she clarified, "we're not leaving him anywhere, especially at this point. But at the same time, we need to keep everyone else safe. T-Sam, Ellie Kate, your father, me and you, everyone." She stood up straight and sighed, placing a hand on her forehead. "This would be a lot easier if your father was here." she muttered.
