The past four days all consisted of the same routine.
· Wake up
· Feed Niall my breakfast
· Go to school
· Work my brain out to finish every page of homework in class
· Come home
· Feed Niall my lunch
· Go to work and make a few deliveries for a few hours
· Come back home
· Feed Niall my dinner
· Heal him, or restore some more of his memories
· Go to bed
· Repeat the next day
As tired as I was from the lack of food and sleep, I was still determined to help Niall. I wasn't about to give up on him, or give into my mom.
I gave Niall a majority of my meals because I already spent my paycheck to buy him clean clothes, finger foods that were easier for him to eat, care products, and so on. It was just easier to give him my food most of the time.
I tried to heal Niall again a few times, but I still got the same result as before. Nothing. So I still just ended up healing Niall's memory, which did become easier. I also discovered I didn't have to see the memories while I healed them. I found it faster and easier. I could see what I was doing, and I could be mindful of Niall's privacy. The downside, however, was that he hasn't talked since the first time.
Jean visited once, with treats. She brought me and Niall some chocolate chip cookies, and boy did he love her that day. She wasn't very happy when I told her about healing Niall's memory without her, but she was more shocked when I told her what I saw when I did it. She was also shocked when I told her about him talking to me. After that she made me heal him again while she was there. After I reassured her that what I was doing was safe, she said I could continue to heal him as I pleased.
Other than that, taking care of Niall wasn't too hard. He just lounged around and napped for most of the day. He was only a bit rough when I decided to make him bathe one night, but overall, he really wasn't any trouble for anyone else, he behaved rather nicely.
I closed the garage door and walked into the house. I set my backpack down on a chair at the table and pulled out my phone. No texts. No calls. Looks like the bakery doesn't need me today. I checked the time. One twenty-three. I was home a little late for parent release today. Oh well, either way it's time to feed Niall.
I shoved my phone back into my pocket and grabbed my lunch bag. I turned on my toes and was about to head toward the basement before a sudden meow startled me. I gasped and fell back onto a table chair behind me as I saw Niall on the floor in front of me. He backed up and meowed again at my reaction. I released a breath and stood back up.
"You surprised me." I went to him and pet his head. He looked back up at me as I did. "How did you get out of your room? I don't remember leaving the door open." I wondered.
He looked away from me and started to rub his body against my legs, purring. I exhaled through my nose and shook my head at how cute he was being. I raised my head toward mom's office door.
"Mom, did you let Niall out of his room?" I called, already knowing she was in there.
There was a slight moment of silence before I heard her reply. "What?"
