Chapter 3

We arrived at her home after only a short ten-minute drive. The house was moderately sized. The pointed roof complements the dark orange bricks perfectly and the rectangular shape nicely. The front yard is perfectly trimmed with the bushes cut to perfection with a flat top and edges. Short green grass and flowers waiting to be admired. Together Eliza and I made our way to the front door with my suitcase in hand, holding on tightly as to keep my hands from shaking. I have a new home, I'm a little more nervous than I would like to admit but looking at Eliza as she unlocks the door, I know that there is no reason for me to be afraid. I silently followed Eliza inside. From the corner of my eye, I noticed her smiling brightly. Feeling a wave of comfort wash over me I felt all my nerves leave me and was left feeling safe, comfortable, cared for. I want to stay with her for the rest of my life and have a family once again. Her house reminds me a lot of what my aunt and uncles home used to look like. It was big enough for two people. Three was alright, still, their house was a little bigger, so it was never noticeable, it was even the slightest bit crowded. Upon entering the house, you arrive in a hallway of sorts. On the left of me is a cabinet filled with shoes. Following her lead, I took them off and gently placed them in an empty spot. I watched her place her car keys in the top drawer of the shoe's cabinet. She then motioned for me to follow behind her, the smile still bright on her lips. Walking through the hallway we arrived in a roomy living room. Of to the right, I noticed a large kitchen and over to the left, I noticed some stairs leading up. There are a few other doors around but nothing that drew my attention other than it being a door. This is what I have been waiting for, a new fresh start.

"Nova, how about you get settled in. I have prepared a room for you upstairs, second door on the left. The bathroom is at the end on the right." I nodded happily and made my way upstairs, suitcase tightly held in front of me as I make sure not to accidentally bang it into the wall or anything. Following her instructions, I managed to find my new room. The room is nothing much, but it is more than enough for me. More than I would have ever expected or hoped for. The walls are a plain grey-white colour. There is a king-sized bed in the centre of the room, with two bedside tables on each side. Of too the left in front of the window is a beautiful glass desk with a blue glow beneath it and draws on the side and lastly a build in wardrobe off to the side of the desk. I gently placed my suitcase on the bed ready to unpack. However, I froze when I heard an ear-piercing scream echoed through the house. I stood perfectly still, staring down at my suitcase as I wait for something to happen. Either hearing it was the T.V or Eliza. I hope, I really hope that she is alright. I don't want anything to happen to her. I couldn't forgive myself if something did happen to her. Another loud scream echoed through the house. I spun around facing the door, my hands shaking and breathing loudly. That isn't the T.V, that is Eliza. No, no, no, no. This can't be happening. I listened to the screaming as it continued, unable to move out of pure terror. Louder and louder the screaming continued until finally, it all fell silent. Tears fall down my cheeks like little waterfalls as I remain standing where I am. Wasn't it enough that they killed my entire family? After a year I finally find my self a new family and now she is killed as well. I suddenly heard soft sobs echoing through the house followed by begging. Eliza is still alive, for now. Can I save her? I force my body to step forward but stop when I hear a man's voice. I can't hear exactly what he's saying but just as I try to take another shaky step, I hear a gunshot followed by a thump to the ground. I let out a startled scream of my own as I plummet to the ground unable to support myself any longer. He killed her and I couldn't do anything. She was willing to give me a family and in return, I caused her death. I knew I wasn't safe to be around, yet I was so selfish and wanted a family that I caused Eliza to get in harm's way. After a moment I worked up enough courage to make my way downstairs, hoping to find the man who murdered my entire family and Eliza. The man who left me with nothing. I slowly walked down the stairs and into the living room. What I found there was truly horrifying. Blood. Blood, blood and more blood. However, I couldn't see Eliza's body anywhere. Nor anyone else for that matter.
