Chapter 4

With a loud grunt, I slowly pick my head up. My neck and shoulders ache from the painful position I've obviously been in for a long time. Unfortunately, I don't have the pleasure of not remembering what happened for me to get in a position like this, I remember it all. Eliza, the man and the chloroform. He kidnapped me. I slowly open my eyes to reveal- nothing. The room I'm in is pitch black. All I can tell that is in the room is a wooden seat which I'm sitting on. I can feel my hands tied tightly behind my back while my feet are each tied to one of the front legs. I struggle against my restraints while I yell out muffled pleas.

My muffled yells are brought to a sudden stop when a bright light shines into my eyes from in front of me. Blinded, I squeeze my eyes shut as I listen to the footsteps descend from the stairs before me, I must be in a basement then. Trying to adjust my eyesight from the pitch black to the sudden bright light, I noticed a man standing several feet away from me. The exact same man who kidnapped me and killed Eliza.

"You need to stop hurting yourself, Nova." Hearing his voice, I struggled harder in the chair. I'm not hurting myself; he is hurting me. I can feel the retrains cutting into my wrists as I continue pulling at the ropes while I continue to yell muffled screams and provenances at him. My fear is fuelling my will to live, to get out, to get justice for my family and Eliza.

"Stop it, now!" He screamed, stomping the rest of the way to me. I looked up in fear as I watched him move closer and closer. His yelling and the tone he used causing me to immediately stop my struggle. I sat still, obedient and petrified. There is nothing I can do but sit still and watch as he nears closer to me. He seems to have calmed down a little the closer he gets to me until finally, he stood in front of me, looking down on me. He looks strong, stronger than most men his age and it terrifies me. His hair is a dark mahogany colour which complements his dark brown eyes. I can feel my body trembling as he stands, staring down on me. Is he going to torture me before killing me, and ending the Wilson family?

"Stop crying. It makes you look weak and there is no room for the weak in this family." Wait, does that me he isn't planning on killing me? I desperately try to cease the tears from falling while I muffle my sobs until they are barely noticeable. I can feel more tears approaching due to the sheer terror in my body, but I make sure he doesn't hear or see them, needing to stay alive until I can find a way to escape.

"Good girl." He gently placed his large warm hand on my cheek, smiling down on me. I stiffened at the touch, squeezing my eyes tightly shut trying to keep my tears at bay. I don't want to make him angry, who knows what he can do to me.

It took a few moments for me to calm down slightly to the point I was sure tears wouldn't start the moment I started talking. Looking up at him I could see him just looking down on me, his eyes still on me and his hand on my cheek. I shivered slightly but swallowed, working up the courage to talk to him.

"Please, please let me go. I swear I won't tell anyone, just please let me go." My head snapped to the right before I even finished my last plea. The man hit me! It stings painfully as I continue looking over to the side for a few seconds more, letting the tears slide down my cheeks unable to hold them back any longer.

You. Are. Never. Leaving. Us!" he screams, pausing between each word for extra drama that wasn't needed as his voice is scaring me into submission enough. I just want to know what he plans to do with me. He did just say 'us', so are there others like him?

"I'm sorry," I whisper out pathetically holding my head down. How I want to hold my cheek but with my hands still bound behind me, I have no luck of doing so. I just hope that he, and whoever else, doesn't kill me - or hurt me for that matter. Maybe he doesn't as he sounded so upset and angry when I asked to leave.
