------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, my name is Skylar Gray. I'm currently 18 years old ... I think. It's hard to keep track of the days when you don't have a calendar. I used to be normal, I lived with my parents and two brothers, I had friends at school, and I was part of my school's musicals since Jr. High. I didn't have a perfect body and I was just a normal childish teenager; then it happened. I was 15 when the outbreak happened, no body saw it coming and no body was prepared. In the first day my parents died, in the next two i mercied both of my brothers one on each day. By the the fourth day I was completely alone.

But all of that is in the past. I've buried it deep inside of myself along with my other emotions, because out here emotions make you weak, and when your weak you die. For the past three years I've lived by one rule.

 Weakness is death

If you are weak the people you love die, you die, weakness brings death and pain. I refuse to be weak and emotions bring weakness, so I became emotionless. It was hard but it was for the best.

Now here I am on the side of the road; my father's Honda dirt bike that he loved completely dead. As I stared at the old red bike memories ran through my head of when i was younger, before i could get to deep I stopped myself

"Weakness is death" i mumbled to myself as I heard the sound of a vehicle approaching. I quickly grabbed my bag off of the dirt bike's seat before starting to walk down the road. I ignored the black, bloody, and damaged truck that passed me but instead of it continuing to drive -like I thought it would- it stopped. A man with a white beard and white hair stuck his head out of the window

"Hey kid, your bike break?" He kindly asked me. I could already tell that he was a grandfather figure and I highly doubt that he would ever hurt something living.

"Yeah, it did" I replied giving him a weak smile.

he returned the weak smile with a bright one of his own "Well shoot, why don't you get a ride with us" he said his grin never leaving his face.

Before I could reply a voice spoke up from the inside of the truck. "Hold up. remember what happened literally 10 minutes ago when we picked up a random stranger!" I didn't even know the guy and I could tell he was annoying. "For once i have to agree with Murphy. We can't pick up everyone doc" The driver spoke up.

"I have spare gas and Twinkies" I interrupted "You can have them if I can get a ride. I don't even "need to get very far, just to the nearest town" I tell them. Why the Hell did I just say that.

"That sounds like a fair deal" the dark skinned women in the front said to the driver  before he sighed. "Alright get in the back" I gave him a nod before jumping into the bed of the truck.

Why the hell did i say that? I'm supposed to be this badass bitch that doesn't trust anyone, so why the hell am I in the back of their truck?

I dismiss my thoughts as the pretty red head with dread locks introduced herself as Addybefore introducing the rest of the people here.

Don't memorize their names. You're never going to see them again. I thought bitterly, I didn't know how wrong I was.
