Ch 23 - The Mills

Time to see Millicas. Not just to talk about his vbride (IS Laura reference) but just to talk and see how he's doing.

It was the best of times before the worst of times. When in actuality compared to now those times were the best you had as a human. During the times at the orphanage right when you lived in a box called a room. All the furniture not matching and cramped in a small space but loving it because you had a place to call your own. Sad for large majority but somewhat paradise for you at the time. Beginning you were in a halfway doing chores before you were going to hit the books. 

"(FN) have you finished the floors yet?" Said Edna poking her head in.

"Yeah. I just finished. Not sure if I put enough polish on there."

"Looks fine. You washing up before dinner?" She asked with a smile.

"That time already?"

"Oh come now. You're smart. And if you somehow have trouble I or one of the sisters will help you out. But not on an empty stomach young man. You work hard."

"Thank you, Edna."

"Honey you okay?" Rias looked at you and then gave you a hug. Opening your eyes sensing the water running down your face. "Say something."

"Rias, am I crying? Am I really crying?"

"It's okay. I'm here. Everything alright?" She wasn't going to let you go so might as well let everything all out. "I love  you. Please. Tell me anything you know."

"Well," You wipe your face to clean yourself up. "It was about the old times. I was human and didn't meet you yet. The orphanage and Edna before she was in bad health."

"If you didn't see her grave you may not have kissed me my love. After that I was hooked. (This will included in my behind the scenes book The Risks.)

"I know. I guess I've just been thinking about those times and, other things surrounding that. Rias we have a child together. When I look at how adorable Raven is I want the best for her. She is not ready to see what my old room looked like. Heck, our walk in closet is bigger than that. Any bathroom in this house is bigger than my old room. But in all honesty just like everyone else when grandparents come about they get shook. Asia and Xenovia came from a church and they had several people that cared. I only had one I can rely on. Edna of course. To be completely honest I have been thinking about my parents. I think they're dead but not completely sure."

"Hubby." Rias pulled the sheets off you and cuddled on top of you. It was always interesting trying to figure out what she was doing since she never slept with clothes on. Least without exhaustion. Otherwise wake up in the middle of the night to strip and head back to bed. 

"Yeah?" You blushed.

"I will take very good care of you. If you want to know I can find out for you. Of course it won't be today. Might take a while but I will give you my answer."

"And in the mean time?" 

"Can't I kiss my husband a few times before I see how my daughter is doing?"

"Always. Then Mills is coming over right?"

"Yup. Don't worry I will have you two talk alone over some coffee and such." Rias was going to handle everything first. Though even she didn't show all on her mind she was growing worried about you. Mentioning parents for the second time in a week and waking crying made her sad. Upset more than Akeno and her friends. And for some reason, she had a theory unlike the others.

A few hours later after cleaning yourself up and gaining your confidence back Millicas arrived. In the kitchen as Rias was catering to the little ones with the other moms. It was such a shock how he went from a boy to almost a man. Short hair unlike his dad and clean shaven. But something about the Gremory genes just seems to naturally come with dashing good looks and seductive charm. He didn't know but he could easily pick up a girlfriend if he had the confidence for it. Thank goodness for that.

"Uncle it's been a while." Millicas raised his mug.

"I know Mills. How are you?"

"Great. Yourself?"

"Well Rias and Raven are happy. All that matters right now right?"

"Outside that?"

You sighed. "Well Mills besides a rough night its really women that are the trouble. Remember how we were going to interview 50 girls and narrow it down? We got two out of that and then did another 50. How many did we get? Five! That's right five."

(Trick a professor taught me with numbers in writing. Numbers one through nineteen [1-19] you write out and 21+ you can choose to use numerals. 20 or twenty works both ways.)

"Geez. Does Aunt Rias have high standards?" He pondered.

"Well if she just wanted you to cater her needs, had no idea what she wanted, or decided to go in public without panties?"

His eyes grew. "You, have a point." He took a gulp. "That's really bad."

"Not aggressive, on the same page, not full of herself, and sweet. No yandere, tsundere, selfish, and not too shy. We got Yami, Harmony, Delaney, Jessi, and Slyphy. Five sounds good right."

(Heads up. No date. Tsundere Secretary aka Tsubaki will be in 2019. Yeah. Spoiler alert. But Asia comes first and trying to finish some stuff up.)

"How am I going to handle such a thing. I'm not dating five right?" Almost in panic. The pressure and guilt immediately weighed on him.

"No. Meet all of them and go from there. Have a day adventure and we can help plan some stuff. Get to know her. Go be yourself. If they wouldn't mix we would move on the list. We weeded out those. You don't want smug, money hungry, and the sort. Especially your mother. She means well but she has a certain standard to live up to. She doesn't want to settle which I can understand completely. But don't sweat this. Because well,"

"Wait. You mean-"

"You meet them tomorrow."

Gulp. "Oh man..."

Now voting will be down the line. Going to get some development into the five girls. So far it's mostly Delaney and Jessi are the favorites. But I can see Jessi getting up there. Yami and Delaney I honestly have no idea. We shall see.

Heck the voting is weird. I thought Raven and Raiden at one time would be Ruby and Cloud. It happens but has purpose. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
