Dust and a shredded purple robe covered the floor of the ruins.
"Wait, no! I didn't want to kill you!"
"It's too late now. Besides, she was keeping us from the surface. It's not our fault we had to leave."
"But-but she cared about me so much..."
"She was keeping you captive. You need to get back to the surface, don't you?"
Long silence.
"Okay... I guess you're right..."
Frisk woke up later to find the blanket that had been laying on the bed, now covering her and tucked around her.
She blinked a few times before talking to Sans. 'Sans...'
'Yeah kid?'
'Why is the blanket covering me?'
'Well, Toriel came in and I was about to wake you up, but she just tucked you in and left.'
Frisk sat up. 'Huh. That was nice of her. Maybe Flowey was wrong about her.'
'I'm not so sure. I mean, she did lock us in here.'
'Maybe. But maybe she was scared that we would get hurt if we left.'
Sans was silent.
Frisk tried to open the door again. It was still locked. 'Still stuck though. What do we do?'
'Dunno. We could train more if you want.'
'Mm... not right now. I'm still a little tired from last time.'
'Alright.'
They were silent for a while.
'So...' Sans started. 'Wanna hear a joke?'
Frisk smiled. 'Sure why not?'
'Why did the skeleton laugh at the joke?'
'Why?'
'Because it was humerus.'
Frisk held in a laugh. 'That was so bad it was good.'
'Okay, here's another. Why didn't the skeleton go to the ball?'
'Why?'
'He had nobody to dance with.'
Frisk laughed. 'All of your jokes are skeleton jokes, aren't they?'
'...Maybe.'
'Okay, want to hear two short jokes and a long joke?'
'Sure.'
'Joke joke jooooooooooke!"
Sans laughed. 'That was a good one!'
'Here's another. These two guys walk into a bar. Knock knock.'
'Who's there?'
'The two guys who knocked their heads into a bar.'
'Pfff ahaha!'
They shared jokes for a while and laughed. But they soon stopped when they heard a knock on the door.
"Child?" Toriel's voice came through the other side of the door. "May I come in?"
Frisk said yes and Toriel entered.
