The group started walking again, down a very long hallway. It was a bit intimidating to Frisk, honestly. But Flowey seemed a bit more on edge than she was. He huddled to Frisk closer from where he was on her arm, petals brushing up against her skin. Of course, she noticed him from the contact.

"What's wrong, Flowey?" She asked him.

Flowey's eyes narrowed as they darted left and right. "I-I don't like this place. The Core I mean. I know I say I hate Snowdin and Hotland, but that's because of the temperature. Here, someone's always watching you from the shadows..."

"You're not wrong," Other Sans admitted. "Monsters lurk 'round here all the time, just to pick a fight." He turned to face them. "But don't worry. I got y'all's backs. If anyone tries anythin', I'll punch their lights out."

Frisk shook her head. "I don't want you to hurt them. We can just run."

The skeleton gave a small sigh with a smile and nodded. "Yeah, you're right. No fightin'."

Frisk smiled back at him. She really appreciated it when he said that. It reminded her of her impact on him. That made her feel good inside.

The group walked down a long hallway for a while, seeing shadows of monsters in the darkness a few times, though they never actually attacked or even bothered them. Maybe that was because Other Sans was with them. He did have a reputation for being powerful after all. After walking for a solid minute down the ominously long hallway, Frisk started to become inpatient.

'Doesn't seem so "maze-like" to me,' she commented to Sans.

'Don't worry. It'll get there,' he responded.

'Maybe I should worry about that.'

'Eh, maybe. But if Other me is anythin' like I am, then he should already know his way through.'

After walking for a bit more, they finally turned a corner. The girl was so relieved and finally felt that they had actually made some progress. Walking down that hall had just felt like walking on a treadmill; doing work, but not actually going anywhere. Frisk let out a soft breath and continued to follow the skeleton.

Then a gleam of red light caught her eye. She look in the direction of the light, only to see another shadowy silhouette fall back into the shadows. Somehow, that particular silhouette felt familiar, and filled Frisk's gut with dread.

'Did you see that?' Frisk asked.

'I felt that,' Sans answered. 'Think they're followin' us?'

'I don't know. They didn't seem like the other monsters.'

They fell silent again as Other Sans lead them around corners and down halls. Now it was really starting to feel maze-like. There were so many twists and turns that Frisk would have felt completely lost if it weren't for the skeleton helping her. She wondered if he had ever gotten lost in here before. Maybe that's how he knew his way? Or maybe he had already seen a map of the place and just memorized it before even stepping foot in here. That would actually make a lot of sense.

Then a shimmer of light caught her eye. She once again turned to the source, only to see the glint of something in the shadows before disappearing. Frisk couldn't tell what it was at first. she tried re-imagined it in her mind. That's when a terrifying realization came to her.

A knife.

Frisk bit her lip.

'They're definitely followin' us,' Sans stated.
