He cast one last painful glance into the room, heaved a breath and stepped away. Suddenly, Christopher heard the sound of glass clinking and padded barefoot towards the source of it.

The boy couldn't see anyone but he could pinpoint it was coming from the kitchen. A figure stood near the kitchen counter and another sat on a stool.

"What are you doing in my sister's room?" Rayna questioned, quirking an eyebrow.

She poured a glass of milk and gave it to a sleepy Dayana. The little girl didn't seem to realise his presence because she quickly finished her glass and returned back to bed.

"Ana wanted to talk. She.. she explained everything to me."

"I assume she did." Rayna pursed her lips, her hands on her hips. "Are you okay? You still look a little.. lost?"

"I understand the part that a lot had been going on," Christopher hesitated. "Bu-"

"How did she lose the baby?" Rayna finished, her eyes like glass.

He slowly nodded.

"Anaeya was distraught of what would happen once the 20 years sentence was up," Rayna uttered, not meeting his eyes. She hugged herself. "That, and I'm sure she told you that Yasmine is still free."

He nodded, urging her to continue.

"Ana didn't eat. She didn't sleep. She kept working all throughout the day, sometimes even forgetting to pick Dayana from school. That day, Joel came looking for Sylvia. He.. we saw Ana collapse before our eyes."

"The child.." he trailed off.

"The doctors told us that she was suffering from a miscarriage as an affect of her depressive state and require immediate abortion otherwise we'll lose Ana. You weren't around and I -" she trailed off, hugging herself.

"You what?"

"I didn't have the heart," Rayna swallowed. "So Joel signed the necessary documents. Ana was depressed when she found out and blames it on herself."

"It isn't her fault," he said.

"The next few months were difficult. She went for therapy and then returned to work. She still has bad days but things began to pick up real quick after that. Everything was normal until the day the producers announced that CNCO was invited."

Christopher opened his mouth but closed it when no words came out. They stayed where they were, rooted in spot as the silence engulfed them.

He felt anger towards himself and remorse for having left Anaeya alone to deal with everything by herself. He wondered if he had stayed, would things had been better.

Would they still save the child?

Would Anaeya still love him?

A chair scraped against the floor and Rayna stalked in the direction of her sister's room. She cradled a cardboard in her arms when she returned and placed it on the kitchen counter.
