"I never thought that you two would make it official," Joel remarked, swirling his glass of champagne. Christopher raised an eyebrow at him, wondering what his friend meant. Joel sighed. "I think that its going too fast. Asking her to be your date to a party with many people attending. It is just too fast for my liking."
"Anaeya said yes. If she is okay with it, then we will be fine," Christopher replied, nonchalant. "We agreed to take this relationship according to our pace. I get it that you prefer taking your time to perfect everything. But that's you, Joel. Not me. Not Ana."
"Mm, I just.. its nice seeing you two together. I just.. I don't want things between the two of you going south with the press attending the party tonight," Joel said, nodding wistfully. "You and Ana.. ustedes dos merecen amor."
Erick straightened out of the sudden, jabbing his elbow into Christopher's. Although he had been sitting with them in the car the entire time, he didn't quite catch what they had said but sensed the awkwardness. "¿De qué color se pondrá ella?
"Azul? Negro?" Christopher guessed.
Both boys glanced at Erick with thanks for breaking the uncomfortable moment.
"Rosado."
"Es oro."
Joel sighed, rolling his eyes. "You guys are relentless. As long as she's wearing something appropriate then its all good."
"Eh, says the guy who sacrifices cinco horas just to help Oriana find a dress," Erick scoffed. "For a quincernera."
"Pero es un quinceañera," Joel muttered, defending himself. "Its not my fault, she wanted to be fancy."
"You literally bought five dresses and sent them all back before buying five more," Christopher said, popping a new bottle of champagne open. "That's nuts, bro."
"Wait till it's Aaliyah's quincenera then you'll understand," Erick said, smirking. "My sister wasn't as extreme as Oriana. Sin ofender, Joel. But girls are crazy when it comes to quincenera or parties or sorts."
"Ana doesn't care," Christopher scowled. "She may have a modelling company supplying her nice clothes now but she still wears simple ones to work. That's the girl I love."
"Ay dios mio! Christopher, estas siendo tan romantico!" Erick said, mimicking the squealing of a girl. Christopher cringed.
"I wonder when is mi mijo going to put a ring on her?" Erick said, now pretending to sound stern but failing it miserably. He crossed his arm.Joel raised an eyebrow at Erick in question."You're pretending to.. sound like his mom, right?" Joel asked.
"Si, mijo," Erick answered, lightly slapping Joel's shoulder.
There was a light tap on the window. Joel, being seated right next to it, peered outside with his eyes wide. Christopher took the cue as her arrival and got out of the car with Joel, fixing his suit to look better.
