Crumbling

Sean opened the door for me and my ears were greeted with a little 'ding' that the door made when opened. The pleasant, musty smell of coffee wafted through the air and the atmosphere felt like a warm hug.
"I can already tell why this place is your favorite." I told Sean as we got in line.
"Yeah, it's pretty cozy in here." I leaned against the wall as we waited and chatted with Sean.

"So, what are you going to do now that your apartment is gone?" Sean asked. I let out a little sigh.
"I was thinking about moving out of Ireland. Don't get me wrong I liked it for a while, but now I'm getting bored." I tapped my chin, "I just don't know where I would go though..."
"What about Brighton?" Sean smiled as me and I saw something flicker in his eyes.
Hope?
Nah

"Brighton? I guess that could be fun."
Sean nodded enthusiastically.
"Yes! I could show you around and introduce you to my friends over there. I'm sure you guys would get along." It was hard not to smile along with him. He just looked so excited about the possibility of me moving to Brighton. How could I say no?

"I'll think about it." I finally said. Sean opened his mouth so say something else but was interrupted by someone brushing past and bumping him. He stumbled forward and stuck out his hands to regain his balance. They landed on either side of my shoulders and our noses were almost touching.

My eyes widened as I looked into his. I could feel his warm breath on my skin and I saw him look down at my lips.
"Oh, shit sorry." Sean quickly mumbled and backed away from me.
"Nah, it's ok. You were shoved." I chuckled awkwardly. Sean rubbed the back of his neck while I rubbed the side of my face. When I noticed we were doing it at the same time I laughed.
"Alright, what are we? Awkward high schoolers? It was a mistake. Let's just get our coffee." Sean gave me a smile and the weird moment quickly passed.
"Yeah." He nodded and the line moved so we were finally at the counter. We ordered and sat down at a little table.

"So, tell me a little more about yourself since I clearly still don't know who you are, jacksepticeye." I grinned.
"Well, as you know now I'm a youtuber.. I have 21 million subscri-"
"21 fucking million?!" I interrupted, my mouth hanging open.
"Yeah," Sean chuckled, "it's pretty crazy that that many people watch me."
"Well, it's understandable. You're pretty cool and not to bad looking." I watched as the ends of his ears turned red, which made me laugh.
"T-thanks." He stumbled over the word, while a smile appeared on his face.

"Ok, so now I want to know why those girls called you Jack, is it a nickname?"
"Yeah, I got it when I was little."
"Oh, weird nickname since your name isn't even close to Jack, but ok." I said and Sean shrugged his shoulders.
"Yeah, but people can spell it easier then Sean so I usually tell people my name is Jack."
I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Why didn't you tell me your name was Jack then?"
Sean scratched his beard.
"I guess I knew that you were different then most people I meet. I knew that we would become friends and I wanted you to know my real name, not just one that is made up." I smiled.

"Alright Sean you've completed 20 questions with y/n!" I joked, "you can ask a few now if you want."
"How kind of you." He chuckled and took a sip of his coffee, "how long have you been singing?"
I had to think about this for a moment and I brushed a stray strand of hair out of my eyes.

"Since as long as I can remember I guess. Singing has helped me in so many situations..." I found myself reminiscing on my past and blurting it out to Sean,
"In the orphanage I grew up in, I was always told that my dreams were useless, even if I was good at singing. What they didn't know, though, was that I'd sneak out at night and sing at little cafes and restaurants that would take me." I chuckled a little, "eventually they did catch me sneaking out one night when I was 13 and I was locked in my room at nights after that. I still sang, it was the only think keeping me sane in that hell hole of an orphanage. No one wanted me, so I had plenty of time to write my songs."

I felt a hand gently hold mine and I looked up to see Sean looking at me with sad, gentle eyes. He nodded, urging me to continue. I was a tad confused as to why he looked sad, but I brushed it off and continued.
"So, when I turned 18 I got out of there and started my singing career. It started off terrible. I would spend so many nights thinking about where I went wrong. I started believing my dreams were really useless, and I was wasting time that I could be getting a real job."
"I walked to a job interview one time, but I stopped myself before I went in. It wasn't what I wanted to do, I wanted to sing. So I tried again. Everything slowly started coming together, and my career took off."

When I ended my 'story' I froze. I told him way to much about myself.
"Sorry, I went off the rails a little there. You didn't want to know all that." Sean squeezed my hand a little.
"Are you crazy? Of course I wanted to hear all that. You've been through a lot to get to where you are."
"Thanks.." I smiled at him, but I suddenly couldn't look into his eyes anymore so I looked down at my cup.

What's happening to me?!

My stomach felt weird and I felt my face heat up a little. The wall I built around myself for years was crumbling.

But why?

I quickly composed myself and looked back up at him. He was smiling at me and I couldn't help but smile back.
My wall kept falling.
