The U.A. Sports Festival was just beginning. While I was a student there, I didn't feel the need to compete. Instead, I watched as the other students and my classmates competed.
Class 1-A was almost a dream. Everyone there had a unique quirk that I had never seen before, especially Yaoyorozu. I had never seen a creation quirk before, and it was fantastic to watch her in action.
Still, my stupid heart fluttered everytime the half white, half red boy showed up. Despite all of my best efforts, I could never get my eyes off of him. I didn't want to cheer for anybody in particular, but, in my mind, I was yelling for Todoroki to win.
After the first bit, where Midoriya cane out on top, I decided to move a little closer. I had been sitting in the viewer's area, but the student section was much closer to the field. Some of my friends from other classes were there, and they enthused to me about the festival.
"I bet Midoriya will win!" one of them guessed. "He's so strong, and he got first place in round one without even using his quirk!"
"Please, Uraraka has a great advantage," another classmate argued. "With her quirk, she could send someone flying out of her way."
A third classmate turned to me. "Who do you think will win?" she asked, smiling unknowingly.
I stared down at the field, pretending to think, but I knew my answer.
"Bakugo," I said simply.
Their jaws dropped. "That guy?!" they exclaimed practically in unison.
"Look at everybody on that field," I said, waving my hand in that direction. "Out if everyone out there, he is bravest about using his quirk. Midoriya can't do much, because that means he'll break limbs. Uraraka has to touch someone in order to make them fly, and Todoroki only uses one half of his body to fight."
I looked back to my friends, who were all exchanging glances.
"No one said anything about Todoroki," said one with a sly smile.
My cheeks flared as I looked to the ground. "Are you sure? I-I could have sworn that one of you said something."
They only laughed at my embarrassment, before we noticed that our teacher, Midnight, was about to start the next event.
"A...horse race?" my friend asked me. "I've never heard of that."
"It's a cavalry battle," my other friend corrected, pointing to the screen. "There's a team leader that sits on everyone else's shoulders, and they have to grab headbands to earn points. Whoever has the most points wins."
"Geez, Midoriya must be terrified," another friend said. "Everyone's gonna be after him."
"If he gets the right team, he won't have anything to be afraid of," the first friend said. "I'd say he should team up with Uraraka, Asui, and Shinsou."
I glanced at my friend. "That sounds like a terrible team."
Everyone laughed for a minute, then Midnight said that the battle was about to begin.
"Who're you rooting for?"
"Definitely Shinsou's team. They look ready to take everyone else down."
"I'm gonna say Midoriya's team."
"Monoma's team looks tough, I think they've got this."
"I want Todoroki's team to win," I sighed.
My friends gave me knowing looks, and my face heated up again.
"Not like that! Just that Momo's on that team! And Iida and Kaminari! They're my friends, so I want them to win!"
"You can't convince me you don't have a huge crush on Todoroki," one of them said, and my face flushed. "You're so freaking obvious about it!"
