                                                       CHAPTER 1-CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

I brushed down my horse, sky, and hummed to myself. I had missed my friends for years after I had been chosen as a ranger they were gone. I couldn't find them anywhere. They avoided me for my whole apprenticeship, which made it unbearable. My humming turned into a full out song, "I had you, you had me. together, we were unstoppable. Brie was the brains, and john was the bronze, and I'm pretty sure I was the leader... I just cant believe, that I didn't see, that I... r-really need... you..." tears came to my eyes and I whipped them away and ran into the welcoming forest around my cabin. I pulled the cowl of my cloak over my head and ran, as fast as I could.

Tears rolled down my face and I hurled myself up and tree and onto the highest branch. I let my legs hang and started crying softly, so soft only someone who was following me would have heard. But unfortunately, someone was. I heard a branch snap but I couldn't hear it over my sorrow for my lost friends. Even if they wanted to find me they couldn't. I am not even considered a girl to people. no one in the fief has actually seen my face and that's how it shall stay. Crowley was trying to get me to cut my hair at the last gathering but I refussed. I loved my long braid. That's how Brie wore her hair, her shoulder length hair into a small braid. Once I finished my apprenticeship I started wearing my long hair in a braid, but I kept my bangs nonetheless.

I let out a startled yelp and someone pulled off my cowl and knocked me out with the hilt of a knife. I fell from the tree and landed sprawled on my back. Before I blacked out I thought I thought I saw the end of a white courier dress but I couldn't make It out before everything went black. Pitch. Black.

I woke up with a courier and a knight staring down at me. I squinted my eyes and gasped. The knight had curly black hair and cocoa skin. The courier had her hair in a braid and it was a dark brownish color, and her skin resembled coffee. "What the hell!" I screamed in a high pitched tone.

they smiled down at me. "Didn't know you missed us so much." Jonathon said with a small grin. I scowled at him and then said, "Whad'ya mean I cherished the moment you... you abandoned me! Just like my parents!" I said with tears clinging to my eyes. they looked at each other and Brie sighed then said, "We couldn't bare to see you hurt." she said, tears coming to her eyes as well. "Hurt... Hurt! By who!?!?!?" I said crawling back from them. "By... Jonathon help me with this?" She said finally giving away and letting tears slide down her cheeks.

Jonathon hugged her with one arm and she buried her face in his shoulder. He sighed then said, "listen don't make this harder than it needs to be you were about to tell EVERYONE about your family they left you to save you, echo!" He said taking a breath and running his free hand through his hair. "your being hunted by some... Hibernian assassins sent by kind Ferris." he said sitting down in front of me with Brie melting down beside him. "What do you mean..." I said raising an eyebrow. "That's all we can say but... they're gone now that's why were here we came to... apologize but now I guess we shouldn't have." he said eyeing Brie.

"I'm sorry It had to be this way echo." he said, then they ran off. I sat there staring at the dirt, thinking about all the things I had just heard.

Then I burst out into tears, I didn't care who heard me. I just wanted everything to go away.
