                                    CHAPTER 10 AREN'T I THE BEST

Sometimes I felt so... evil! Once Alex gave me the news I felt like strangling him. Mitchell? Alarms went off in my head and for a second I nearly fainted as I ran back to the stables with Adela  following behind me. "What?" My apprentice said to me annoyed, "Don't you get it?" She sighed and said, "No." I shook my head and kept running.

"I can't believe him." I heard Adela groan and I glared at her for a second then turned my attention back to my thoughts. "The prince. On a mission. With us?" I shook the horibble thought of all the possible things that could happen out of my head. Adela laughed at me, "With you." I nodded and sighed, " He also... lied to me." Adela tilted her head and I continued, "He tried to trick me at first saying he was 'his apprentice' when he isn't!" I groaned and said, "Why would he pretend that one of Rodney's apprentice's is one of his own." Me and Adela shook our heads and rode home once we reached the stable. We rode in silence.

We left in the morning and headed to castle Aruelen. Mitch was going to meet us there and I was dreading that moment. At least Adela might learn a thing or two from Crowley. Gilan could be busy on such short notice and... I don't think he would like what Adela said about him. Earlier in the day I accidentally started rambling on and on about Gilan and Adela had said, "God why don't you marry the guy already! From how he sounds I'm pretty sure he's single." So if she even mentions that our friendship might just fall apart.

We rode talking and laughing, I explained to her how Crowley was and what he really like. She wasn't surprised to hear he loved coffee, but surprised to hear he loved it more than me. I was happy. I hadn't gone on a mission in so long and this was fun! Riding not knowing what surprises the next turn holds.

I sigh once we are in view of castle Aruelen. "C'mere, Adela." I half whispered, she hesitated and pulled her horse closer to me and we stopped. "If anything happens to me I want you to know, I never meant to be mean." I saw her curious expression turn into confusion and I continued, "I yelled and watched you get hurt, I was cruel, I'm sorry." She shook her head and laughed, "I hate holding grudges." I smiled at her and nudged her while we trotted to castle Aruelen.

Once we got there I saw Mitch and two ranger's beside him, "What're they doin' here?" I asked jerking my head towards one of the ranger's. "I thought you only hated Halt." A youthful voice said, I turned my head to the slightly smaller ranger and looked at his horse, tug! I laughed, "And why are you two here exactly?" I saw Halt stiffen and Will shook his head sadly. "You don't want to know." I sighed and looked at Mitchell.

"You guys take him to see his parents, might wanna see them before something happens. I'll be taking this little terror to Crowley." They nodded and a stable boy approached and took our horses. We silently walked to Crowley's office.

I watched a small boy walk out grinning. He looked a bit like Crowley but I shook the thought off once I realized who it was, he was an old friend, his name was Logan. I knocked and walked in cautiously once I heard Crowley's peaceful voice say, "Come in."

"Hey, it's been so long!" I laughed and walked to the desk. He nodded and grinned at me, "Surprised to see that you actually are related to him, so happy all the time." I shook my head, "I would have to die to lose my happiness." He laughed and made a hand gesture for us to sit on the two chairs in front of him.

"This is Adela, of course." I giggled and continued with another grin, "Reminds me a tinny bit of myself, well except..." I whispered the rest, "She actually knew who her family was." Crowley sighed and shook his head. "You have to let go one day." I looked up with sad eyes, "I'll take great care of her just... don't die on your family, I can't see them sad." I nodded and walked to the stables, where I was supposed to meet the boy's.

I ignored the glances I got from people and continued my journey, once I got there I saw Will without his hood on and grinning at his mentor. "Glad to see you're excited." I said grinning, "You look more excited than I will ever be in my life!" We both chuckled and went to get out horses, we did the rest in silence, I was waiting for the dreaded word of what we were doing and where we were going.

"So tell me about what were doing." The boys casted me side ward glances, "Or at least a few hints." Halt sighed and gestured for Will to tell me. "Just something that happened in the mountains." He hesitated and spilled like water from a tilted cup, "Somehow got the wargals back in action and has a few soldiers of his own." I tilted my head, I frowned at him and searched for signs of bluffing, but found none.

"Well then, who in their bright minds would live in the mountains?" Will groaned and said, "Morgaraths son!" My eyes widened and I stared at him. "Say what now?" He and Halt groaned together and said together as well, "He's following his footsteps!" I looked at them still wide eyed and let my jaw drop.

"Probably got some poor woman against her will." Halt said shaking his head and looking out the window, "Should have known he would have done this." I said in a low voice. Halt shook his head and said, "How?" I groaned and he said, "I know more than you do about him, how could you possibly know anything about him?" I raised my eyebrow, "I was usualy the lookout in the mountains, got one of the new ranger's to fill in for me." He groaned and I heard a soft rustle through the bushes.

We had been riding for over two days and were nearly to the mountains and now, we got our first signal of someone here. The boys heard it to but we kept going. A few minutes later a wargal popped from a bush beside me and pinned me to the ground. I felt a sharp pain spreading through my stomach and I started screaming. I kicked him off and stabbed him with his own knife.

I felt weak, I felt my hand getting soaked as I was pressing on my stomach. I groaned and could only hear the on going battle around me. I grabbed my bow and prepared to shoot. I shot two wargals down before I felt a sharp pain in my arm. I grabbed my saxe knife and turned to stab the wargal behind me.

I froze as I stared into the dark eyes of the devil himself. Morgarath's son.
