CHAPTER 5- RETURN OF THE PSYCHO WARD MATE

We walked talking and laughing, and I went to talking normal once the baron had left from the bushes. Once we were near the gate my voice went deeper and I said "It's so good to have you guys back." And grinned, which was an unusual sight for everyone who saw us walking, no one had ever seen me grin or smile but the baron and the other craft masters.

I sighed and looked at the ground for a few minutes until Brie noticed, "Jerry?" She said nudging me and I looked up and grinned at her. "Sorry it's just..." I sighed again and looked at the ground, "I wish Talia were here." I said casting puppy dog eyes sidelong at my friends. "She risked her life for you," Wataru said making his way towards me and putting a hand on my shoulder. "if she was still asleep you would have died." he said meeting my eyes. "And she would still be alive." I said shaking my head. "She knew her parents, and you still need to find yours." Jonathon said  cocking his head sideways, I stopped walking at that.

"Think of the bright side!" Brie said grinning, "There is no bright side to death." I said raising an eyebrow, "Actually... She's in a better place." At that I nodded, she didn't face this torture called life and I was happy for her. "Trust me she's probably watching over us now thinking how silly your being." Wataru said with a grin. I let out a giggle and we went back to walking.

A little girl about 4 was running toward us and tackled me, while she tackled me my hood fell off and I heard gasps from onlookers. Her mother quickly ran and grabbed her murmuring "Sorry..." and standing there staring at me in horror. I couldn't help a grin break out on my face as Jonathon helped me up. "I guess you were right John." I said elbowing him, and he let out a low chuckle. The lady look ed at us both, fearing the worst. "It's nothing, I'm not what everyone sees me as." I said grinning at the lady. "What's your name, by the way." I said tilting my head, still grinning. "Talia..." The woman said, I stared at her in horror.

"Oh jeez." Brie said shaking my shoulder. "Did...Did I do something wrong?" Talia said holding her daughter close. "Were sorry she just had a best friend named Talia." Wataru said shaking my arm as well. Talia's eyes got misty as he said had, "When, a-and how?"Brie and Jonathon exchanged glances and shrugged. "When we were little." Jonathon said. "Jerry got chassed into the forest by... a very bad girl." Brie said shaking her head. "Jerry had tripped and sprained her ancle." Jonathon said, shaking his head. "Talia jumped in front of him and was killed." Brie said chewing her nails. "Jerry got away but she tackled him." Jonathon said, a wide grin breaking out on his face. "He was a horrible runner." Brie rolled her eyes and continued. "Then he was saved by a ranger." Brie said grinning. "It's what made her want to be one so bad."

Wataru shook his head, "Jerry isn't going to be happy with you." he said still shaking my arm. "But he did say he wanted people to stop seeing him like that girl." Jonathon said with a wide grin. "So it is you guys!" Talia said. We exchanged glances as she pulled out a knife. "Jerry.... " Wataru said shaking my arm a bit more forcefully as I awoke from my chance. "Mmm?" I grunted as I looked around at the dozen shocked faces and raised an eyebrow. Then I saw Talia lunge at Brie and my eyes filled with hate.

"The names annastasia." She said grabbing Brie and holding a knife to her throat. I stared in horror, helpless to save my best friend. "You hurt her and I'll... I'll..." I said clenching my fists. "You'll what?" She said laughing, "You wouldn't dare kill me." at that I notched an arrow to my bow in under a second. "Don't bet on it." I said in a dangerously low voice, people muttered around us. She laughed like the psycho she is and grinned. I snarled at her and she tilted her head, "Come on Echo, cut the act."  She dropped the knife and Brie dropped to the ground, Anastasia walked toward me slowly.

"I'm sure people have their suspicions." She said tilting her head, I shook my head. "My name is Jerry." She laughed again, "come on look at that face," She grinned. "I find it offensive you think I'm a girl." I said an eyebrow raised, she laughed again. "Then where did echo go?" She said, hands on her hips.

"Dead. With Talia." I said shaking my head and lowering my bow. Then I realized that was a huge mistake. She dived at me and stabbed me in my shoulder. I cried out and Wataru struck her behind the ear with the hilt of his sword. I shot up and staggered back holding my wound wide eyed. At that moment the baron walked past and saw the crumpled figure before me and his eyes filled with anger.

"Jerry!" He said, I turned towards him, the blood from my shoulder dripping down to my elbow and his gaze softened. "What happened?" He asked looking at Brie crumpled on the floor, tears running down her face. "This is Anastasia, the girl we were talking about in my cabin. The one who tried to kill me." I said, shaking my head to clear my vision. "Your hood?" He asked, I gasped and quickly pulled my hood over my face blushing.

I groaned and tightened my grip on my wound, then I saw Wataru come up to me and wondered why. But before I could everything went black.

I woke up on a cot, my friends surrounding me. Brie was beside Jonathon on my left and Wataru was on my right. They were all sound asleep, snoring softly and peacefully. I noticed I wasn't wearing my cloak and a realization of horror passed through me. Then I silently thanked myself for wearing a shirt that was extremely baggy and didn't show any signs of my chest.

I tried to get up but the sharp pain in my shoulder held me down, and I winced. A ranger walked in quickly taking their hood of and sitting on the empty chair next to Wataru. It was Crowley, and his face showed no signs of anger, only concern. "Why can't we just tell them?" I croaked. Crowley sighed and said softly, "I don't know how they'll react." I shifted in place, ignoring the sharp pains coming from my shoulder.

"Why did you make it up in the first place?" I asked trying to move my arm, unsuccessfully. He sighed and said, "To protect you." My eyes clouded with anger, "That's what everyone keeps telling me!" I said still talking softly, but my voice slightly raised. "Why can't you guys be clear and just tell me why galicans are after me!?!" I said slightly raising my head. Crowley got up and passed his had through my hair, "Calm down." His gentle eyes persuaded me and I closed my eyes, but was still as alert as ever.

"It's because... Of your father." I opened my eyes at that, he was still stroking my hair and his gaze was as calm as ever. "Who is he, I know you know." He sighed, "He wants to be the one to tell you." I raised my eyebro. "My mother?" I asked, my eyes full of fear. He smiled and said, "Don't worry she's fine." I sighed and fell asleep with him stroking my hair.
