The Girl

 "So, how'd you end up here? " Rose asked Adam as she moved around his little workshop they had been talking/ flirting for a while now and Rose's curiosity about what Mr. Statten was holding in those cages had her in a relentless need for answers. Even if it meant using Adam to get it. He may have been cute, but Adam was no time lord.

"Van Statten has agents all over the world looking for geniuses to recruit."

"Oh, right. You're a genius. " Rose scoffed

"Sorry, but yeah. I can't help it. I was born clever. When I was eight, I logged onto the US Defence System. Nearly caused World War Three. " he bragged slightly, trying to impress the blond.

"What, and that's funny, is it? " she asked with a smile.

" Well, you should've been there just to see them running about. Fantastic! " he laughed at the memory

"You sound like the Doctor. "

" Are you and him? " Adam asked.

"No, we're just friends. " Rose replied

"Good." Adam smiled like a kid on christmas.

"Why is it good? "

"It just is. "

"So, wouldn't you rather be downstairs? I mean, you've got these bits of metal and stuff, but Mister Van Statten's got a living creatures down there. " she said standing right next to him.

"Yeah. Yeah, well, I did ask, but he keeps it to himself. Although, if you're a genius, it doesn't take long to patch through on the comm. system." he joked

"Let's have a look, then. " Rose smirked her eye's watching the screen as two videos came up.

" It doesn't do much, the aliens. It's weird. It's kind of useless. It's just like this great big pepper pot. And the other just doesn't do anything but try to escape, Statten had to resort to breaking her hands so she would stop getting out. She talks in her sleep though, always about this galifry place, asking for a doctor. She's weird." adam said looking at the two images.

They watched as the girl sat in the middle of the room her arms held in chains above her head her body strapped down to an upwards facing table. She just looked blankly forward, there was something in her eyes that reminded her of the doctor. Rose couldn't look at the screen, she felt bad for the girl, she was trapped in a room for no reason, unable to become free. Looking to the other screen she to she the dalek chain up as the man named Simmons drilled into it causing the alien to scream out.

"It's being tortured! Where's the Doctor? " Rose asked her eyes unable to move from the screen.

"I don't know. " Adam replied helpless

"Take me down there now." Rose demaned forcing Adam to take her to the Aliens. She couldn't stand by and let this happen, it wasn't right. It's what the Doctor would do.

"The metal's just battle armour. The real Dalek creature inside. " the doctor spoke as they entered the elevator.

" What does it look like?"

"A nightmare. It's a mutation. The Dalek race was genetically engineered. Every single emotion was removed except hate. "

"Genetically engineered. By whom? " he question the time lord.

"By a genius, Van Statten. By a man who was king of his own little world. You'd like him."

" they've been on Earth for over fifty years. Sold at a private auction, moving from one collection to another. Why would it be a threat now? "

"Because I'm here. How did it get to Earth? Does anyone know? "
