I Promise - A Doctor Who Love story

Rose held on tightly on to the girls arm as they ran. Their feet pounded away on the ground as they moved. The girls breath was heavy and ragged. In her defence she had been stuck in a room for the past 50 years without much movement, but she enjoyed every step she took their was a spark in her eyes that she thought was long lost with her past lives. The jolt of adrenaline that was kicking into her system made her feel like she was alive. She was no longer a zombie, she was the young girl she once knew full of energy, with plenty of time on her hands. She was going to find the doctor, she was going to get out of this place.

"Civilians! Let them through!" De Maggio shouted as they ran through a group of guards. On their way to the stairs. Mick had somehow gotten out of rose's hold and kept running as they went of the flights of stairs unlike the humans below her stopping to watch the dalek.

"Stairs! That's more like it. It hasn't got legs. It's stuck!" Rose exclaimed a bright smile on her face. As she ran up a flight of stairs and stopped.

"It's coming! Get up! " De Maggio said.

"Great big alien death machine defeated by a flight of stairs. " adam added to rose's previous comment

" not for long keep moving" yelled down, wanting to put the most distance between her and the dalek.

"Now listen to me. I demand that you return to your cage. If you want to negotiate then I can guarantee that Mister van Statten will be willing to talk. I accept that we imprisoned you and maybe that was wrong, but people have died, and that stops right now. The killing stops. Have you got that? I demand that you surrender. Is that clear? " De Maggio negotiated hoping to reach an understanding with the alien death machine.

"Elevate." the Dalek announced as it began to rise up slowly.

"Oh my God. " rose cried.

" don't just stand there run!" the girl exclaimed hoping the humans below her would start running. But they weren't running. Like typical humans they were standing there watching.

"Adam, get her out of here." De Maggio yelled out as the dalek got closer.

"Come with us. You can't stop it." Rose begged as Adam dragged her up the stairs.

"Someone's got to try. Now get out! Don't look back. Just run." the guard ordered pushing the pair up the stairs while simultaneously taking aim at the dalek and shooting

" aim for the eyepiece... come on Rose, Adam, Run!" the girl yelled at them as she ran up the stairs as fast as she could, but she wasnt that fast rose and Adam quickly caught up with her as she lost speed. The girls head was spinning and her lungs burned for air. The adrenalin in her system was the only thing keeping her going, but all those years full of nothing where catching up to her, she was running on fumes.

When Adam and Rose cause up to mick, she was surprised by the two as they grabbed her arms and pulled her along till they got off the stairs running across a platform. They run into all of stattens men, guns aimed at them as they run to the next door, they freeze momentarily until the commander yells at them.

"Hold your fire! You two, get the hell out of there! " the trio runs but stops when the dalek enters the room after them, mick pulls them along into the other room closing the door behind them stopping again as Rose spoke.

"It was looking at me."

"Yeah, it wants to slaughter us." Adam said a stress look on his face as he looked behind him.

"I know, but it was looking right at me." rose said panic in her voice.

" they do that Rose. now we need to go" mick stressed as she started to move again, she didn't know how long she had till her body gave out and she needed to put as much distance between herself and the dalek.

"So? It's just a sort of metal eye thing. It's looking all around." adam replied ignoring mick altogether.

"I don't know. It's like there's something inside, looking at me, like, like it knows me" rose said as they began to run again, mick taking the lead as they move through the corridors. Till a phone rings and rose picks it up. "This isn't the best time." she complained into the phone.

"Where are you?" a unflimlare voice rang from the phone.

"Level forty nine." rose replied catching up with mick as adam raced ahead of them.

"You've got to keep moving. The vault's being sealed off up at level forty six"

"Can't you stop them closing?"

"I'm the one who's closing them. I can't wait and I can't help you. Now for God's sake, run."

" who's that your talkin to?" the girl pantted.

"The doctor." Rose replied grabbing onto her arm once more and picking up speed as they ran. She noticed how the girl had slowed how she wasn't as alert as she once was her steps were heavy and uncoordinated. She looked like she was about to collapse "We're nearly there. Give us two seconds."

"I'm sorry." the Doctor spoke sadly, a heaviness in his voice as he pressed the button.

"Come on!" called Adam as he rolled under the bulkhead. The door was about to close and rose pushed Mick under it as adam helped pull her under. There wasn't enough time for her to cross, the bulkhead had closed Rose was to slow. Mick slammed on the door crying out to rose, ignoring the pain in her hands. She was stopped by Adam as he held her arms by her side dragging her away from the bulkhead, Towards Van Statten office. Micks eyes welled with tears as she fought against Adam.

" GetOff, we can't leave her... it should have been me. We have to get her." the girl argued through her tears. Adam half carried half dragged the girl all the way to Stattens office.

"Exactly! I wanted to touch the stars!" they hurd Statten exclaim.

"You just want to drag the stars down and stick them underground, underneath tons of sand and dirt, and label them. You're about as far from the stars as you can get. And you took her down with you. She was nineteen years old." the Doctor yelled at statten anger and sadness in his eyes.

They entered the office, Adam still dragging the crying girl with him, not caring for her tears. Adam was just thankful for being alive. The girl hit on his chest repeatedly till he gave up and let her go. She stood away from adam and as far away as she could from Van Statten, she didn't recognize the others in the room. But there was a energy in the room that felt familiar that felt like home.

"You were quick on your feet, leaving Rose behind." the doctor accused, stepping towards adam anger in his eyes.

"I'm not the one who sealed the vault! " Adam defended himself. " i did my job i got the girl up here didn't i" he motioned to the girl who was leaning heavily against the wall and tears fell down her face, her face was pale, her eyes red and puffy making her earthy brown eyes stand out more. Her copper hair was dirty and knotted pieces of it stuck to her face from the sweat that gathered on her forehead.

The two aliens looked at each other, and something in their minds clicked into place. That feeling that they had all along that something was off, something was different. This was it, they weren't the last of their kind. They had finally found each other.
