Take a step, leave your print,
take up the sun, leave your shadows.
Give a smile, leave an impression,
all these little things, to learn a big lesson.~
Kira's fist knocks against a wooden door thrice. She was in New York, currently standing behind apartment door 19, waiting for it to be answered. For a second, she was worried she got the wrong place and double checks the address to make sure that it was the same one that Mozzie told her.
The door opens slightly only to be held back by the door chain. Through the crack of the door, Kira sees Mozzie's cautious eyes. When he sees her, he closes the door. The door chain rattles for a few seconds and then Mozzie opens it widely. She could see him much clearer now. A fake goatee sat on his chin, which was obviously only there to be the distraction from his horrid toupee. Even if she didn't know Mozzie as a child, it wouldn't be hard to tell that the goatee and toupee were not real. She usually frowned upon disguises. Kira steps inside, pulling her luggages with her inside the unfurnished apartment. The white paint was peeling off the walls, which made it even harder to look at. Kira takes a quick scan around the room. There were a few counters and a fridge while a mattress laid in the corner to her left. Mozzie steps forward a little and peeks outside to make sure she wasn't followed. Kira shrugs off her jacket and places it on the coat rack behind her. She leaves her bags sitting to the side while Mozzie closes the door. "Good. You're here."
He moves towards a rather handsome man standing in the middle of the room and Kira follows. She assumed this was Mozzie's "partner." His dreamy, blue eyes never left her. Kira follows Mozzie as he introduces them quickly, "Kira, Neal. Neal, Kira. Since that's out of the way, you two," Mozzie points at them, "are posing as a couple. Boyfriend/girlfriend, married, engaged, I don't care. Just act like a couple." He points at Kira, "And find a name."
Kira nods and Mozzie scurries off. Neal turns to Kira, giving her a charming smile, "'A beautiful woman delights the eye.' I hate it when he's right. Neal." Neal holds out his hand and gives a small shrug, "But you already knew that."
Kira laughs slightly and shakes his hand, "Kira. But you already knew that." Neal chuckles. Kira takes another quick glance around, "Nice place." Her smile was playful and her tone sarcastic.
Neal laughs again, "Thanks. What's your name gonna be?"
Kira narrows her eyes at him, "Depends. What do I look like to you? A Claire or a Danielle?"
Neal smiles and studies her for only a second, "A Danielle, definitely."
"Danielle Hobbs it is, then. I'm thinking I'll be a realtor. You?"
"Nick Halden, your husband to be." Neal teases.
Kira scoffs, "Funny." She moves over to her luggage and rummages through it for a few seconds, "You're lucky I have this, then." She pulls out a plastic bag of jewelry that she and Alex managed to pickpocket off the wealthy at their last heist. Kira opens the bag and sticks her hand inside to pull out an engagement ring lost from it's owner. Neal takes it from her and slides it on her ring finger gently. Kira raises her eyebrows at him, "Would you look at that?" She lifts her hand and gazes at her ring, "Perfect fit."
Kira and Neal stop outside the charity dinner. Kira turns around to face Neal, letting her hazel eyes land on his crooked bow tie. She attempts to stifle her laugh as she grabs both ends of the bow to straighten it, "I like you in this tux."
