We were nostalgic for a time that wasn't yet over.~
It was a nice, clear Tuesday morning, the sky was clear and blue, the sun shining brightly, and not a cloud in sight. The birds sang in the trees outside and the neighborhood was quiet. Kira lay in her bed, enjoying the lazy end of the Tuesday morning. Her chest rose and fell with her deep, calm breaths, her eyes gazing outside the window, waching the singing birds and the trees. It was perfect. She felt warm kisses trailing from her collarbone, all the way up to her neck. Chills ran through her skin, making her gasp. She turned from laying on her side to see Jayson hovering over her. Bare chested, grinning, and all. "Mm. Morning."
"Morning, Jay." She said, still rather sleepy. Kira stretched her arms above her head, curving her body forward as she let out a yawn. Jayson lay on top of her, covering her with soft, light kisses, tickling her skin. "Jay," She giggled, "what are you doing?" He made a trail to her jawline.
"I want to play." He stated simply, kissing her cheeks.
"I already told you." She scolded him, smiling playfully, "Not yet."
"Kira." He drew her name out in a whine, then shoved his face into her neck hard and sinked his teeth lightly on her fair skin. She squealed in laughter, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. He made silly growling noises and pretended to eat her flesh like a vampire. She kicked under the sheets laughing and hitting her hands on his strong, rough skin. The vibrations of his voice on her neck tickled her to the point she couldn't breathe.
"Jay," She cackled, "stop!" They rolled over slightly on the bed. It's been exactly a week since the Wilkes debacle. No sign of him since his escape. And Kira hoped, no — prayed — that it would stay that way. During that week, she and Jayson have grown closer. And as much as she tried to stop it, she couldn't. She couldn't resist the temptation. She couldn't resist him. Sure, it wasn't all fun and playing, but the simple moments, when they had Tuesday mornings like this one and Friday night food fights where she absolutely crushes him every time makes everything worth it. They finally stopped rolling around the sheets, their laughing turning into heavy breaths and giggles. Jayson hovered over her, enjoyng the view.
A smile curled on his lips as he looked into her hazel eyes. She sighed in content, then bit her lip anxiously. He noticed immediately. "Uh-oh. That's not a good sign."
"Jay, I've been meaning to talk to you about something."
He arched an eyebrow. "You didn't kill anyone right?"
She chuckled, "No. And if I did, you wouldn't know or ever find out." She poked at his nose. He swat it away.
"Whatever, so what is it?"
Kira opened her mouth anxiously, building up the courage to ruin the moment and stop everything. To stop their future from ever happening.
Ding. Dong.
"Great!" Jayson jumped out of the bed immediately, "That must be the pizza. I'm starving." He rushed to the door with his credit card in hand, but as he pulled it open, he didn't spot anyone with the pizza that he ordered over an hour ago. In fact, there was nobody standing on the steps at all. "This sucks." He grumbled.
That's when he heard a gurgling sound. It sounded like a—
"Baby?" Jayson gasped when he looked down and saw the infant in a basket.
