I sprinted down the small track, creating a massive headwind, which launched me forward. It wasn't as condensed as I wanted it to be, so it ended up helping Todoroki who I was paired with. It also knocked over a few of my classmates waiting their turn.
4.02 seconds!
"Sorry! I didn't mean to knock you guys over!" I walked over to where Ashido was laying on her side. Her pink skin was covered in dirt.
"Ow! I wasn't expecting that!" She exclaimed, hopping up to her feet.
"Sorry, Ashido. Didn't mean to knock you over..." I apologized awkwardly with a hand on the back of my head.
"It's fine I guess." Ashido looked away pursing her lips. I got a look from both Aizawa and Todoroki. Both were questioning gazes. What is that about? Anyway, the first test gave me a good idea of everyone else's quirks. I noticed that Midoriya didn't do anything extraordinary. I wonder. I hope he doesn't get last.
I got an average score on grip strength but applied a smiler technique to long jump as I did the first test, I just launched myself into the air. Repeated side steps weren't so hot. Now came ball throw. After Uraraka had her amazing score of infinity, I felt a little discouraged. I still wasn't sure how I could really propel the ball.
Precision was never my strong suit if you couldn't tell.
"Fubuki, you're up." Mr. Aizawa called. I walked up to him and grabbed the ball he offered me with two hands. Stepping into the circle, I prepared myself for a crappy throw.
"Today, Fubuki. We still have things to do." Mr. Aizawa pressured me. That gave me an idea. Air pressure! I have already played with air pressure before, so I just have to focus the air like how a gun fires a bullet. I drew the ball back, and at the last moment, everyone's ears popped. I dropped the pressure so fast that the pressure had to go somewhere, so I used it to propel the ball forward. Mr. Aizawa held up the tracker. Please be good! Please!
489.7 meters. Hey, that's not to bad! After me came Midoriya. Mr. Aizawa handed him the ball and he stepped into the circle. He turned around and looked at me. I gave him a quick double thumbs up and he smiled in response. He still hasn't done anything with his quirk yet, so I hope he does something because at this rate he's coming last.
"If Midoriya doesn't shape up soon he's the one going home." Iida matched my thoughts.
"Of course he is, he's a quirkless loser!" Bakugou replied.
"Wha-He has a quirk! Did you not hear about what he did in the entrance exam?" Iida questioned.
"Huh?" Bakugou had a look of pure confusion. It was the first time I didn't see only anger.
"What makes you say he doesn't?" I asked Bakugou. He didn't answer me, as his eyes shifted to Midoriya, who was pulling back to take his throw. I swear I could feel the wind shift around him, but as he let go of the ball, it was an average throw.
"What gives? I was trying to use it just now..." Midoriya mumbled. I looked at him in confusion, until Mr. Aizawa spoke.
"I erased your quirk." All eyes turned to our teacher, "The judges for this exam, were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll in this school." I turned and gave Iida a questioning gaze, which he returned with a matching look. I turned to look at Bakugou, who I couldn't read his complex expression.
"You did what to my-wha? Those goggles! I know you! You can look at someone and cancel out their quirk! The erasure hero, Eraser Head!" Midoriya informed us. Now that Midoriya said it, I remember my Mom telling me about the guy because she actually worked with him for a while. She told me once she proposed to him, but he rejected, saying that he wasn't much of a romantic. Now that I see the guy, I'm kind of glad he refused my mom. I could never see them together in a proper relationship.
"Huh. Small world." I mumbled to myself. Pretty interesting the same person is now one of my teachers at U.A. I wonder if he will approach me about my mom at some point. I look like her, with my short icy blue-silver curly hair and my golden eyes being exactly the same, except Mom had longer hair. Backing it out of memory lane, Mr. Aizawa continued talking or rather lecturing Midoriya on his quirk.
"You're not ready. You don't have control over your quirk. Were you planning on breaking your bones again, counting on someone else to save your useless body? No matter what your intentions are, you would be nothing more than a liability in battle. You have the same reckless passion as another hero I know. Even with that passion, with your quirk, there is no way you can become a hero. Take your final throw." Wow, that is a proper lecture right there. I could feel Aizawa's intensity from where I was standing behind him, and it gave me chills. Mr. Aizawa was not someone I wanted to mess with. He turned from Midoriya and walked out of his way.
I saw Midoriya muttering to himself. Again, he drew his arm back to take the throw. This time, the ball was propelled forward into the sky. All of my classmates had looks of shock since they hadn't seen his quirk yet.
"Amazing. Amazing!" I shouted. The first thing I noticed as the ball flew through the sky was the similarity to All Might's power. I have seen it so many times on TV, and a few times in real life. The intensity was different, almost scary in a way but it had an uncanny resemblance. Because of my quirk, I notice these things a little more than other people. Mr. Aizawa held up the tracker when the ball hit the ground.
705.3 meters!
"See, Mr. Aizawa? I'm still standing!" Midoriya clenched his now broken finger.
"Wow, he's finally showing us his true power!" Uraraka screeched.
"His finger is broken though. It kind of sucks that to match Bakugou he has a broken finger. A clear difference in strength showing here." I muttered nonchalantly.
"His quirk is very odd." Iida agreed with my statement.
"HEY!" I turned to see Bakugou charging at Midoriya, "YOU DAMN DEKU TELL ME HOW YOU DID THAT OR YOU'RE DEAD!"
Mr. Aizawa lashed out with his scarf and held back Bakugou from potentially murdering Midoriya.
"Stand down. Whoever's next can step up." He released the angry bomb and continued on his way.
The next two tests I didn't have any unique way of using my quirk on. I did well on the long-distance run. Midoriya didn't use his quirk again. I was certain that he sunk into last place after he didn't get another decent score. Mr. Aizawa pulled up the score, and I saw I got 14th place. Could be worse. As I scrolled down the list, I saw Midoriya's name plastered onto last place.
What are you going to do when you only bust out your quirk once?
"And I was lying, no one's going home. It was just a rational deception to get you all to try your hardest." Aizawa pronounced.
"WHAAAAAAAT!?" Half the class screamed.
"I can't believe none of you figured that out." A tall girl with dark hair said. I nodded my head in agreement.
"You knew too?" Iida asked me.
"It was a guess. Besides, activities would be hard to do with an odd number of students. I have an older brother who graduated from this school. He told me a lot of the exercises are in pairs or groups." I told Iida.
"You have an older brother?" Midoriya asked.
"Yep. He's awesome. I have two younger siblings too." I proclaimed proudly. Uraraka giggled.
"Seems like you are all close-knit. That's so cute!" She exclaimed.
"That's it for today. Pick up a syllabus in the classroom and read it over before tomorrow." Mr. Aizawa told us.
Great. I have to read. I'll probably just skim the thing. ;)
