Following Chris' orders, the present twelve campers began making their way through the forest. It was the first time this season that the challenge was somewhere not in the main camp area or the beach, and that left the campers wondering what the challenge would require them to do.
"How long is this supposed to be again?" Annie asked.
"Last season, we walked for about ten minutes," Amalia answered, "Shouldn't be too much longer."
"The last time that Chris asked us to go through the forest for a challenge, the challenge area was extremely large. I think this challenge is gonna involve running; I just hope that we're not running from wild animals or anything like that."- Amalia
Luckily for the group, the challenge wouldn't involve wild animals; it was too costly and impractical for the production crew. But what wasn't impractical was the possibility of building a 20ft-tall pyramid, with a flight of stairs up each side, and a complicated maze surrounding it, which is what the group of campers saw when they arrived at the challenge area.
"Welcome, campers," Chris welcomed as he shouted through a megaphone, "Please climb to the top and join me up here!"
"I'm taking a look at the challenge area, and I'm feeling pretty good. It's probably gonna involve running, which is good, because I'm a freerunner. And then I get to the top, and I see a table with a border, which makes me think that we'll have to do a puzzle. And that concerns me."- Kavan
"Honestly, I'm not even thinking about how big the challenge is; I'm thinking about how Daniel is gonna come and join us. Is he gonna descend on a helicopter?" *laughs*- Amalia
"Alright, now usually we bring back the camper from Boney Island before we begin the challenge," Chris noted, "But right now, I've got some bad.....or good news, depending on who you are."
"Did something happen to Daniel?!" Amalia asked, immediately concerned, "Is he okay?!"
"He got into a bit of an accident and he's in a 'hypothermic state'," Chris answered whilst using air quotes, "He's being treated by our medical team as we speak."
"Is he out?" Annie asked, concerned, "Like, out of the competition?"
"We're gonna give him some time to recover, and if he's still unable to compete by the upcoming elimination ceremony, he'll be given immunity regardless if he's on the winning team," Chris began, "But by the rules of the show, if Daniel can't be back by the next immunity challenge. we'll have to pull him from the game."
"I really want to say something about how this hurts my game, but I can't help but feel bad for the guy. He must be devastated right now. I certainly hope that he gets back into the game."- Veronica
"I feel so bad for him! I know that he he loves Total Drama so much and to be taken out this way would make him super sad! I just hope that he doesn't get pulled."- Callie
"It's cruel, but it's the rules. With all the potential lawsuits and insurance costs for the camper, it's easier to just make things safer. If we feel that the camper isn't able to compete, it's the show's responsibility to remove them from the game so they don't make things worse. I know that Daniel is dedicated to the game, but his life comes first."- Chris
"And Amalia, you'll be able to see him after the challenge, okay?" Chris revealed, wanting to assure Amalia that Daniel would be okay.
"Alright," Amalia answered as she held back tears, "Let's just get to the challenge."
