The Alpha and The Assassin

Chapter 3

"You're mine now, in every sense. Mine completely," he murmurs kissing the top of my head. I wiggle my body closer against his side, resting my head on his chest as I hum in contentment.

"I was always yours," I mumble tracing small circles on his chest. He reaches up and gently strokes my feline ears that had popped up. I purr softly as I press closer, rubbing my head gently against his chest. Smokey is purring happily as she has finally united with her mate. Our bodies are molded together, legs intertwined underneath the sheet. My hand slowly rubs up and down his large chest as he relaxes back into the bed with a shiver.

A loud crash vibrates through the house from downstairs causing Hayden to flip us over as he lays protectively over me with a growl. His eyes are trained towards the door while his ears strain to listen for more sounds. Another loud crash is followed by a scream and another softer crash. Hayden jolts out of bed, quickly pulling on a pair of sweatpants.

"If this is caused by your sister again, I'm going to kill her," he growls out before darting out of the room. I follow suit, quickly pulling my clothes on, before dashing out after my mate. The scent of a familiar hunting group brings a devious smile to my face as I skirt past Hayden and bound down the stairs. His fingers brush against my arm as he tries to  grab onto me, but I easily dodge his grasp. He growls deeply in warning, but I just shake my head and continue on my track.

Thomas, Brick, and Jake are standing in the center of the living area, guns aimed towards a small group of women. The women are shaking as they stare at the group of hunters, fear rolling off them in waves.

"Oh Thomas," I say happily. His head shoots over to my direction before he rolls his eyes.

"Why am I not surprised? You're always around Lila," he grumbles shaking his head.

"What can I say? I have a gift," I state with a grin. Ren bounces down the stairs, clapping her hands eagerly.

"Oh I'm not gonna miss it this time," she cheers happily.

"Hello Selena," Jake calls with a small smirk.

"Hey Jake," she chirps. He sends a quick wink in her direction causing a blush to rise to her cheeks. Pft.

"Red said that he and the others will be here soon," Ren states as she glances over to me. I stomp my foot like a five year old with a huff.

"Phooey. Well it looks like we have to get this show on the road. Thomas would you like to do the honors," I ask motioning to the scared women. He shrugs as he raises his gun to fire at the group of women. Just as he pulls the trigger, I send a kick to his arm causing the bullet to shoot high into the wall. Hayden growls deeply as he starts towards us.

I leap over Thomas and land on Brick, wrapping my legs around his chest. I send a hard punch to his temple instantly knocking him out. As Brick falls to the group, I push off of him, flipping onto Thomas with ease. Ren tackled Jake to the ground, straddling him as she pins his arms down above his head. Ren may be strong, but she's not strong enough to keep him pinned like that. Jake quickly leans up and presses his lips to Ren's causing her to giggle. I truly believe that they are mates. I mean this happens every time.

"Eww," Thomas and I say at the same time looking away from Jake and Ren.

"Just what I wanted to see this morning," I grumble with a pout as I remain sitting on Thomas's stomach. He shakes his head with his face scrunched up in disgust.

"Emmet," Hayden growls as he stops a couple of feet behind me. His eyes are ablaze with fire as he glares in my direction.

"Who's this Lila," Thomas asks looking over my shoulder at Hayden. I giggle softly at the nickname, remembering back to our first few missions with Thomas. He stills calls me Lila, even when he knows my real name.

"Oh! That's Hayden. He's my mate," I giggle out happily.

"You found him? Congrats girl," he says patting me on the back.

"I know! Isn't he cute," I ask cheerfully.

"Sure," Thomas says slowly with a small nod to his head. I'm suddenly being lifted off of Thomas as warm arms wrap around my waist. Hayden presses me to hist chest with a soft growl as he glares at the hunter on the floor. I wrap my legs around his waist to help keep myself in place before resting my head against his chest. He's so tall. I kind of like it up here.

"Aw, you're so cute together! You guys are making me miss my wife. I think I'm gonna head on back home to her," Thomas says jumping up off the ground. I glance over at my sister, who is now under Jake as they continue their make out session.

"Um, have fun separating the two. Because I don't think they're letting go anytime soon," I say as I watch them warily. Red's scent fills my senses letting me in on the fact that he should be here any moment.

"I'm just going to let your sister deal with him. She can handle him perfectly fine. Can your brother help me out with the other guys" he asks as he glances at his team on the floor.

"I'm sure Lizzie can help," I say with a shrug. Lizzie is our resident witch. He nods before nudging Brick with his foot.

"Good because there's no way I'll be able to lift this boulder on the ground," he says kicking Brick again.

"Never fear because the great and powerful Lizzie is here," Lizzie announces as she enters the house. Red strolls in carelessly behind him with his hands shoved into his pockets. The rest of the group slowly makes their way in behind him. Hayden growls lowly at the new intruders while tightening his hold on my waist.

"Thanks Liz," Thomas mutters.

"No problem Hunter," she mumbles with a shrug before doing her magic and sending them home.

"Say hey to May for me," I say with a wave before Thomas disappears.
