"Emmet! Where are you," I scream out, fear flooding my body. The smoke is interfering with my senses. I can't feel her presence or even smell her. "Emmet," I call out again to no avail.
Where is she? My wolf growls lowly in my mind, pacing back and forth at the edge of his mental confines. I don't know. God how could I have been so stupid to let this happen. The smoke slowly starts to clear out of the room only to confirm my worst nightmare - Emmet is missing. Red and his group files into the room, their hardened eyes taking in the damage.
"Alright. I need a head count of who is missing or hurt. Hayden, have you tried contacting her through your link? Lizzie, figure out everything you can about the attack." Red's cold eyes glance around as he barks orders at people. I shake my head, knowing that I can't contact her.
"Where is she Red," I growl out, my wolf scratching at the back of my mind to be released.
"I'm not sure yet Hayden. Give us some time and we'll figure it out. Trust me," he states as he continues to look around the room. Members of his group are running around the house and yard doing who knows what.
"Found something guys," Lizzie calls as she jumps up from near the door.
"Report," Red asks as he stalks towards her.
"Caucasian. Brown hair. Brown eyes. 6'2, 220 pounds. Early twenties. Oh, and his name is James Brians," Lizzie states as she looks at a scuff mark on the ground. My eyes widen in confusion as I watch her.
"You got all that from a scuff mark," I ask incredulously. She smirks as she turns to face me.
"Nah. He's really bad at kidnapping. He dropped his license," she chuckles pulling the small plastic card from behind her back. I nod slowly in understanding. Red chuckles softly as he reaches to grab the card from Lizzie. His hard eyes scan over the license before handing it back to her.
"He's not in charge," Ren says shaking her head as she walks up behind him.
"Hey I've seen him before. He works for... Shoot. Who does he work for? I would have known literally any other time. Damn it, who is it," Jake grumbles as he wracks his brain for the answer.
"I know him as well. I can't put my finger on his boss though," Drake mumbles as he stares at the license as well.
"I know," Shea mumbles as she stands beside Drake. All eyes turn to her, waiting for an explanation. "He's the one that took me before you guys found me. The guy that took all the different supernaturals, and the one that Emmet almost killed. We returned one of the wolves to, to this pack actually." Her eyes soften as she glances up at me, sadness filling her formerly hardened gaze.
"Sophia," we both whisper out at the same time. They were the ones who brought my sister back.
"It was Ayden," the group says at the same time. My eyes widen at his name before narrowing to a hardened glare.
"Ayden Night?" My question comes out a whisper, hoping I was wrong.
"How do you know him?" Ren shoots me a confused look with a tilt of her head.
"He's... He's my brother," I growl out in a low tone. My brother stole my mate.
***********************Emmet's POV***********************
The darkness slowly lifts from my brain as the fog slowly fades. I peek one eye slowly open only to see more darkness around me. The hard chair underneath me has numbed my butt, cluing me in on the fact I've probably been here for a while. My wrists and ankles are bound to the chair, effectively keeping me from moving around too much. My eyes fully open with a few blinks as I take in the room surrounding me. A small lamp above my head providing the only dim lighting in the entire room. A familiar scent drafts towards me causing me to knit my brows in confusion.
"Well, well, well. Look who has finally woken," an eerily familiar voice calls from the darkness. "Looks like little Emmet isn't so tough now." He steps forward from the dark, my eyes trailing up his body before landing on his face. Anger instantly fills my body as I glare at the man in front of me. Ayden Night. That bastard. I should have killed him when I had the chance.
"Well, well, well. Look who survived. Just like the cockroach you are," I growl out. He smirks as he slowly raises his arm, knife in hand. Oh great. Not this again.
Hayden, I love you. I hope I make it through this to see you again. I press the thought through the mind link, praying to the moon Goddess that it will reach him. Smokey's presence slowly leaves my mind. Goddess I hate him and that stupid drug.
"Now that that's taken care of, let's have a little bit of fun shall we," Ayden asks with a sadistic smile. He slowly steps towards me as I brace myself for the excruciating pain that is sure to follow.
