Three Months, Ten Days, One Minute Later
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"When are we getting married?" I ask him with an innocent smile on my face. I'm the master at the art of distraction. I even got a medal, but Chip and Dale stole it from me. It was hanging on my neck too. And I'm a very light sleeper. So not fair. I miss Jimmy Bob the Amazing Medal. I bet he misses me too. Good times.
"We've already discussed this, Sangikins. When we find a talking monkey that's certified with a marriage license, we'll get married on the spot. Until then, we will continue loving each other without legally binding us together for the rest of our lives." He looks up at me and a smirk stretches across his luscious pink lips. "Now, stop distracting me because ... BINGO!"
"No! Why does life have to be so cruel. Why, life? Why?" I scream up at the sky and then collapse on my side. So not fair.
"Sangalicious, I'd love to beat you again, but I have to go find our next victim. Go in Fred and lock the lid. You remember our rules. I'll be back as soon as possible." His lips touch my forehead and linger there for exactly four seconds. I'm counting. He lets go and I lay here listening to his retreating footsteps.
"Still getting away with it." I laugh and hop off the ground. I feel bad for lying to him. I do, really. He's protective of me. It's very sweet of him, but I can take care of myself. He has nothing to worry about.
I quietly walk in the shadows and maneuver my way through the empty streets. The sun just went down and it's cold since it's the middle of the night in the middle of January. I see my cold breaths in the cold air. My fingers and face are numb. I think it's time to steal some clothes. Preferably gloves and a hat. I already have a hoodie, but I could get Aurum a better coat. He'll be happy about it, but disappointed that I didn't lock myself in Fred.
I stop walking and hide further in the shadow I'm in when a silhouette casually walks down the street I'm on. He's whistling too. Wait, I know that tune. It's from Star Wars. Only one person would whistle such a dorky and awesome tune. I grin and slowly follow the path of darkness until I'm only a few feet away from him. I still and wait until he's very close. As soon as he is, I let out a battle cry and tackle him to the ground. His warm body meets my cold one and my unexpected action pushes him to the ground. He grunts and suddenly I'm off of him and laying on the ground. Ow.
"Hey! That hurt." I whine and roll over onto my back. I wince as soon as I come into contact with a sharp rock. I sit up quickly and glare at my moody nerd. He has issues.
"Sunshine, what do you want?" He glares back at me.
"Moonshine, stop being so mean to me. All I did was give you a hug. I thought I got your moodiness out of you a long time ago. What's wrong? Do you have that rash again?" I ask him with genuine concern. He punched Aurum when he had that rash. Things did not end well that week with either of them.
"Sorry, there's a lot going on at home. My brothers are driving me crazy. I'm sorry that I haven't visited in a while. I actually came to see you." He sighs and runs a tan hand through his sun kissed blond hair. "I'm really sorry for being mean to you."
"It's okay. I'm actually going to the rich part of town to steal some clothes for Aurum. Want to join me?" I raise an eyebrow and tilt my head to the side.
"Yeah, sure." He shrugs and then locks his cerulean blue eyes onto my green ones. There is life in his eyes, but I can barely see it. I've always wondered if I have life in my eyes.
He stands up at his full height, which is very tall, and walks over to stand right in front of me. He bends by the hip and reaches his hand down with his palm facing up. I grin and place the palm of my hand over his. He curls his hand around mine and pulls me up onto my feet. My feet land on the ground lightly. I tilt my head back to look up at him and give him a big smile. He returns it and it guiltily reminds me of how hot he is. I shouldn't be thinking that, I have a boyfriend.
