I turn around to watch the two guys, who are suspiciously helping me, to pass the time. They both are working in an almost melodically manner. They must cook together a lot. It's nice to see siblings getting along so well together like best friends. I wish I had that with my stepsister before I was sold. She looked slightly surprised and uncaring as I was hauled off to that stupid black van. And yes, they did in fact offer me candy before tying me up. I never got candy, though. I think it's because they forgot and not because they were joking. No one jokes about candy around me. The last person that did is still in the bottom of the ocean. I think he learned his lesson.
I move over to the two giant people with my head tilted to the side as I watch them cook. The one with the olive complexion looks scary and can knock me over just by flicking his fingers at me. He looks to be about six and a half feet tall. I definitely don't want to get him mad at me. His dark, thick brows are furrowed in concentration as he watches the bacon sizzle. The other guy, Cheerful and Caring, is cracking eggs and making a variety of different types of eggs. The giant glances over at me and then moves over to give me some room. I shrug and move next to him.
"Why do you cook for us? I carried you to dungeons. You should be punching me." His thickly accented voice rumbles down at me. I look up, and dark, almost black eyes stare down at me with genuine confusion.
"I don't know. I just want to." I quietly reply.
Aurum and Corey are the only friends I've ever had and being with scary looking strangers that could crush me are bringing me back to my quiet, timid self. Once I'm comfortable with them, I can be myself. For now, I act like a baby deer. What is a baby deer even called?
"You are too nice, Aggele. You don't belong here with us."
I don't know why, but my heart feels like it just got stabbed. I don't belong. I don't belong anywhere. My home is a dumpster named Fred. He's right about me not belonging here or anywhere for that matter. I lift up my hand and push my pointer finger against the bottom of my lip. Maybe I shouldn't talk or do anything with them anymore. Corey didn't want me to meet them for a reason.
The air shifts and the scent of coffee beans wafts to my nose. I frown and look over my shoulder to meet eyes with two different colors: ocean blue and seaweed green. A small flame of life dances in his orbs and his brown eyebrows raise in surprise. I finger wave at him and offer a small smile before turning back around. Immediately, his footsteps walk in my direction and his body is right behind mine and the giant's in an instance. I tense at the closeness and push my lip between my teeth and bite down until I taste blood. I hesitantly glance over at him and peek up from under my eyelashes to look up at him.
"Damn, it smells great in here. It will smell even better after I finish making my coffee." The guy with heterochromia eyes happily says with an amused tone. He turns towards me and smiles as he asks, "What kind of coffee do you like? You look like you have a sweet tooth, so I'll put a bit more sugar in yours."
"She doesn't need more sugar. The only sugar she's getting is the natural kind from fruit." Brooding and Bossy growls as he scrambles the eggs.
"Wasn't talking to you, North." He rolls his beautiful eyes and then raises an eyebrow at me.
"Um, I've never had coffee before." I blush and and quickly look down.
"Good, you're very first coffee will be made from me. Don't ever buy that crap they call coffee from Starbucks." His tone drips into disgust as he talks about this Starbucks place.
"Okay." Won't be a problem because I don't know where it's at.
"Good girl." He pats my head and then walks around me to make his coffee.
