DARRY's POV:

Buck Merril's bar was always a mess. Especially if Dallas Winston planned on getting drunk over there once or twice a week.

I had insisted on going with him as he announced that he would be going to Buck's. I just wanted to keep him away from alcohol. He got way too emotional over alcohol.

But my intended plan wasn't going too well.

"Dally, put it down-" I attempted to grab the wine bottle out of my boyfriends hands, but miserably failed as he pulled it out of my reach.

"I'm not dru-drunk enough yet, Dar..." Dally slurred, quickly putting the bottle up to his lips and downing down at least a quarter of his 2nd wine bottle.

"You don't need to be drunk, Dal. You're getting worse than Two-Bit." I said, feeling frustration begin to crawl up my back as Dally took another sip.

"Don't tell me what to do, Cur-Curtis." Dallas stumbled over his words before taking another chug. I had had enough and finally pulled it out of his hands.

Dally whined and began to reach for the bottle until I placed it behind me onto the window sill, standing in front of it protectively.

"Darry-"

"No." I said with finality as Dallas growled. He attempted to snatch the wine bottle from me again, but I smacked his head lightly.

"What in the hell has gotten into you tonight, Dal? Why are you tryna drink so much?" I questioned, crossing my arms. Dally stared at me blankly for a few moments until he blinked.

"I'm not tryna drink so much Dar, just tryna forget." He said blankly. I instantly frowned. Trying to forget what?

"What are you tryna forget, Dallas? Did somethin' happen?" I asked, suddenly concerned. Dally sucked in a deep breath.

"Forget it, man. I never said anything." Dallas mumbled, spinning on his heel and stomping out of Buck's place, his beer long forgotten.

I quickly chased after him, pushing past random people as they yelled at me angrily. Apparently I ended up spilling beer all over 3 people, which Buck later told me.

I kicked the door open, only to find Dally sitting on the steps with a cancer stick dangled in between his long, thin fingers. I plopped down next to him and looked at him.

"What just happened?" I questioned him, raising an eyebrow. Dallas didn't respond.

"Dal." I tried again. "Dal-"

"What?!" He snapped at me, whipping his head around so fast that I swear it could've broken his neck. I stared at him with a concerned expression on my face.

"What's goin' on, babe?" I asked, once again. Dally growled.

"Leave me alone, Curtis, and don't go callin' me babe out around like this, you could get us both jailed or even killed." He snarled. I sighed.

"Please-" Dallas cut me off again.

"Ya wanna know so bad?! My old man's a goddamn fuckin' asshole, man! I come home every once in a while and he's gotta throw a damn beer bottle at me every time I even breathe in that fuckin' house!" Dally hissed, throwing his cigarette onto the ground and stomping on it angrily.

Everything was silent for a moment until I wrapped an arm around him. Dally immediately leaned into my shoulder and began to shake.

"... Why don't he want me, man...?" Dallas whispered, his voice quivering. My heart dropped into my stomach.

"Dally-" I started but Dallas cut me off for the third and final time that night.

"Does anyone care...?" He asked quietly into my shoulder. I froze but didn't speak, since Dally continued. "The gang wouldn't be affected if I died, hell would anyone? Maybe you, or Johnny man, but I doubt that anyone else would." He sighed sadly.

I immediately began to talk to him.
"Dallas, what the hell? Of course we'd care! This is just like the thing with Steve! All of us would care if you died! Can you even imagine what Johnny would do without you?! What would I do?! You're my fuckin' boyfriend!" I pulled his face into my chest and stroked his hair as I carried on talking to him.

It was dead silent for a while, just the sounds of me breathing heavily as Dally sniffed. Finally, Dallas spoke up.

"Darry?" He said, meekly. I blinked and sucked in a breath.

"... I love you."

I smiled.

"I love you too, Dallas Winston."
