Sky of Ashes

Chapter 5

 As I entered the library I was greeted by a dreadful sight. Now don't get me wrong I like to read but when there is at least ten million books in one place I tend to get a bit unnerved. I sighed and headed towards the front desk to ask where the books were. The lady there had blonde hair with a bit of blue mixed in, dyed obviously, and brown eyes.

 When I approched she smiled and said, "Hello. How can I help you young sir?"

 "I'm looking for all the books you have on the Shifter magic type."

 She nodded and said, "Alright then, give me just a moment."

 I waited for about a minute and then she said, "All the books we have on the Shifter type are in the back right corner on the third shelf. The books are divided by author so you will find the Shifter books marked with S."

 I nodded and said, "Thank you Miss..."

 "Please, call me Anna."

 "Okay then. Thank you Anna."

 "It's no problem."

 I left and went to far back right corner of the library. When I came to the section marked S i saw that there was only two books. One looked old and tattered and seemed to have undergone many repairs and had a leather cover. The second seemed relatively new and had a black and purple cover. They were both large books and made it look like it would very well take a long while to finish both of them.

 I took them both and went back to the front desk. Anna seemed to be waiting for me and when I got to her she said, "I already got them both checked out for you and don't worry about it because I checked them out on my library card."

 I nodded and said, "Thank you again Anna."

 She smiled and said, "Don't worry about it."

 Just as I was almost gone I heard Anna say, "You should heed his warning."

 I turned around and Anna was gone. She wasn't even at the desk. That was creepy and I thought to myself, "How did she know about the man at the front office?"

 There was something going on and was even more convinced to not trust anyone. I just kept walking to the front office and when I got there I went to the principal and said, "I got the books. Now what?"

 He closed the door in his office and sat me down before he began to speak. "You need to start reading those books now and try to train as much as you can. You will stay here reading until your sister comes here from her class. Then when you go home you should try to do what you have learned or keep reading.

 "I recomend that you read then train. Luckily for you today is a short day because tomorrow everyone will be summoning their first familiar. You will also be required to have a familiar so you must come. Everyone will be instructed on how to summon their familiar when they get here. So for now go home with your sister. She is waiting in the front office."

 I nodded and said, "Thank you sir. Goodbye."

 Then I went to the front office and the sight I saw made me very displeased.
