Sky of Ashes

Chapter 4

Everyone in the gym was trying to be the first in line to get there type tested while Sky and I made our way over to one of the teachers just walking. Sky was first up so she went up to the teacher and he asked her to put her hands on some kind of crystal ball.

 The ball glowed for a few seconds then made a little buzzing sound. The teacher then told Sky to take her hands off and put his hands on it. The ball seemed to buzz for a few seconds then stopped glowing completely. The teacher nodded and said to Sky, "Your magic type is Long Range Combat and your magic subtype is wind."

 Sky seemed so happy to hear what her type was that she was practically jummping with joy. When she cam up to me she showed me her note pad that read, "Good luck."

 I smiled and said, "Thanks sis."

 So I went up to the teacher and he told me to place my hands on the crystal ball. It glowed and buzzed and when it was finished I took my hands off. The teacher then put his hands on the crystal ball and when it was finished he seemed concerned. He did it again and he had an even more concerned look.

 Of course I was curious so I asked, "Hey what's going on?"

 He looked at me with the fakest smile I had ever seen and said, "It's nothing. There is just a problem with the analyzer. Go ahead and head to the front office for analyzation."

 I shrugged and said, "Alright then. Come on Sky."

 So we headed to the front office and when we got there there was a man arguing with one of the people in the front office. He was a little bit taller than me with grey hair and blue eyes. He was saying, "He is my family and I demand that you let me see him!"

 I just shrugged and went up to one of the men sitting in a chair and said, "I'm here for analyzation."

 He nodded and called the principal. While he was busy with that I heard the man next to me say, "Ash? Is it really you?"

 Okay now keep with me on this one. This random guy who I didn't know just called me by my name and it freaked me out a bit. So my reaction to that was to punch the guy in the face. Yeah I know. Smart move right?

 Sky hid behind me and wrote, "Who is he?"

 I shrugged and said, "I don't know."

 Anyways, this guys is on the floor and he made a slight laugh as he stood up and said, "Your definitely the same as you were back then. You've grown into a fine young man Ash."

 Just as I was about to ask this guy who he was the principal came out and said, "Enough. Sir you are not on the records and he is not in your custody so until you come back with validation we can not hand them over to you. Young ones please come with me to my office."

 Before I was out of reach the man grabbed my arm and said, "Whatever you do don't trust anyone."

 Then he just left. I was completely confused by what he said and decided to just keep close to Sky. When we were in the principal's office he said, "Please sit down."

 We did then he continued, "Now Ash I know your not stupid enough to believe that there was a problem with the analyzer. The truth is that your magic type is one that is the rarest of all types. One that is only born once every once every thousand years. Ash your magic type is the Shifter magic type.

 "The Shifter type has the unique ability to transform the body into that of a creature from The Abyss. You are special and if someone wanted to somehow take control of you and use you for something evil then there would be no stopping your power."

 It was a lot to take in but exciting at the same time. The feeling of knowing that you could be the most powerful being in the universe really makes someone want to get to smashing stuff but then I remembered what the man from the front office said. "Whatever you do don't trust anyone."

 I got the feeling he already knew about my magic type but who he was was the big question. I then asked the principal, "So how am I going to train?"

 He sighed and said, "The only way for you to train is to read what the previous Shifter types before you left behind. You will have to train by yourself and make sure no one can see you when you are training or else someone might see you and start getting ideas. Now Ash you are to go to the library and get all the books on Shifter type magicians and if anyone starts to ask why just say that I requested them and you are my personal assistent. Sky you are to go to your classes just like everyone else. Now go you two."

 I nodded and said, "Yes sir."

 Before Sky and I went our seperate ways I told her, "Alright be good and manage okay without me. Got it?"

 She nodded and wrote in her note pad, "You be good to."

 I smiled and said, "When am I not?"

 She just gave me a scowl and went to her classes. I smiled and headed towards the dreaded library.
