Sky of Ashes

Chapter 14

 Death kept flying until he was over my house and I said, "Stop here and kill anyone who tries to enter."

 Death nodded and began to decend. When we landed I got off and headed inside to collect the books and some other things. I'm sure the neighbors were startled to see a dragon next door but hey I didn't care. I opened the safe I had, got the books, and went to Sky's room.

 I looked around for a moment and began to feel the reality hit me. I wanted Sky to be alive. I wanted this to just be a bad dream that I was going to wake up from. I wanted Sky to come up behind me and jump on my back and to think I had started to not trust her.

 I picked up a picture of Sky and me together in a photo and sat down on Sky's bed. I put my hand over it and began to feel the tears falling from my face. I cried for about a minute then dired up my tears and took the picture with me.

 I looked aroun in my room for one last thing and I found it on the floor. It was broken and crushed and I knew for a fact that I didn't do it but then Shane came to mind. He was the only one who would have been able to get in the house because he had a key.

 That pendant was a present from Sky and it was destroyed. I felt like my world just kept getting darker and darker all the time. I swore that I would kill Shane and went back outside to Death to find that someone had followed me. It was that confident bastard Red and his griffon familiar.

 Death was growling at Red when I came out and I saw Red with his hands up saying, "I just want to talk with Ash big guy. I don't want any trouble."

 When he turned towards me he said, "Hey there Ash. I have to tell you something but before that could you tell your nice dragon over there to stand down."

 Death looked at me and asked, "Can he be trusted master?"

 I nodded and said, "He wanted to be Sky's boyfriend so I'd say yes. Don't deny it Red. It was obvious by the way you looked at her."

 Red went almost as red as his hair and said, "Oh just shut up you dumbass. Oh yeah I had to tell you something. It was-"

 There was a sudden explosion right next to me that missed by only a foot. I looked in the air and saw that Shane was riding a drake and no they are no the same as dragons. They are tiny compared to the size of a real full grown dragon like Death. Shane held a small flame in his hand indicating that he was the one who caused the explosion and not his drake.

 He still had that ice cold look on his face when he said, "If come with me peacefully you won't end up like your sister."

 Anger coursed through my veins as he reminded me of Sky but that was when Red told me something that surprised me. He looked confused then said, "What the hell are you talking about you crazy bastard? Sky is fine."

 I looked at Red with the widest eyes possible and said, "What are you talking about? Shane took off her head and stitched her eyes and mouth closed. Then as I was almost gone he showed me her head."

 Red shook his head and said, "Sky was with me until I ran off to follow you."

 Then I heard the loudest shriek I had ever heard. All of a sudden Shane was on the ground and so was his drake. When I looked for the source of the shriek I felt confused, happy, and paranoid. Standing behind me was a blue haired and blue eyed girl. It was Sky.
