Sky of Ashes

Chapter 10

 When we got to the courtyard Sky, Red, and I were directed to three different circles that were all decently close to one another. When everyone was by their circle the principal came on the intercom or whatever those things are called and said, "Alright students I am sure most of you have been looking forward to this but for those of you who don't know what this is I will explain it.

 "All magicians in the field are required to have a familiar with them at all times but when they are not in the field they may dismiss their familiar. A familiar is a creature from the Abyss that will assist you. Each familiar is unique in it's own way. The creature will range from the tiniest to even the largest of creatures.

 "The familiar will choose you. You will not choose the familiar. There is a simple way to tell if the familiar likes you or not. When you look into it's eyes look for anything that would tell you that it disapproves of you. If you think it disapproves of you but are not sure then you must ask it directly what it thinks of you.

 "If it tells you that it would like to get to know you better then you know that it is curious and will most likely be your partner if it like what it hears but do not lie to them. They will be able to sense if you are lying. If they say that they are not interested in you then you will have to dismiss the one you summoned and summon another one.

 "Once you have a familiar that would like to be your partner you seal a contract with the creature. The contract is a mark that both the master and the familiar wears. There may be similarities but they are all unique. Your familiar will tell you how to obtain the mark when you agree to it.

"Now to the fun part of learning how to summon the familiar. The way to summon a familiar is to call out to the Abyss and the way to do that is to say Abyss awaken and a portal will open in the Abyss. A creature will then come through the portal and sometimes it will ask questions and you must anwer them.

 "Now that you know how to summon your familiar you may begin but remember this. Not all of them will be polite and courteous. Anyways, you may begin in three...two...one...begin."

 So with that everyone was ready to go but little did we all know who was watching us. The person watching us from the shadows. The person who would be responsible for impending doom that was swiftly approaching.
