Emily and my dad still stood there, hugging for what feels like hours. I was kind of jealous of my dad. I really wanted to be the one to comfort her. Is that weird?

They finally separated. She sniffled. my dad wipes a tear from his own face.

"Now what?" I ask. They both look at me like I'm stupid.

"I go over there and say goodbye. I thank my mom and brother." Emily said emotionless.

I feel so bad. "Sorry." I apologize.

"Its okay." she says softly, "you've never been through this, you wouldn't know."

I hug her. "I love you Em." A tear falls down my cheek.

"Okay, let's go girls." my dad snaps me out of my trance. We all get our shoes on, grab our coats and head out the door. We only walk to Emily's because she is ten houses down from ours. When we are one house away, we see that there are already cops in front of her house. It is really foggy so it's hard to see. Then we see that her dad has handcuffs on and is getting carried out to the cop car. Emily starts sprinting to her dad.

"Dad! Dad!" she shrieks.

"I'm sorry miss," a cop grabs her wrists, "you have to stay back with your family."

"But, But I." she started trembling.

"I am sorry. Please go with your family." he protested. He let go of her. She stopped dead in her tracks. I though she was going to run to her dad again but before she had a chance her little brother Brandon races over and jumps into her arms. She squeezed him then embraced her mother as well. They stood like that, all crying, I felt so sorry.

"Amber, Mr. Gail," Emily called. She motioned us over. My dad and I walk over to Emily and her family. "Mom, they are the ones that helped us," Emily began, "Amber convinced me to tell someone and Mr. Gail called the police."

Her mother looked up at us. She was really really short. "Thank you. Thank you so much."

"No problem." my dad began, "look, I'm not trying to replace Tod, but if any of you need a father figure. I'm always here. Give me a call."

Emily's mother and brother gave my dad a big hug. Emily and I looked at each other. I gave her a hug. We eventually broke the embrace.

She smiled at me, "Hey, since your dad is a father figure to me, we are like sisters!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah totally." I faked a smile, we hugged again.

A thought ran through my mind: I don't want to be Emily's sister. I want to be her girlfriend.
