The room was just on the other end of the hallway. The first thing I noticed upon entering the room is that, it was carpeted. I knew, not because my feet felt the sudden change in texture but because I was looking at the floor, which I know I shouldn't, because as Hoshi said, I should be confident. I raised my chin.
There were five of them. Four were seated on one side of a long table, facing us, while the other one, a woman, was behind them, standing behind a camera.
"Please enter the designated area.", said the woman on the rightmost end. I immediately saw the rectangle on the floor of course, because I was looking down earlier. A rectangular area on the floor marked with white tape. We lined up in front of them. There was another woman beside her, and the other two were of course men. The table was littered with sheets of paper, pens, and water bottles.
The woman before spoke again, "Please look at the camera while singing. Please shorten your piece, and do not sing the whole song."
Some of the kids seemed surprised by this, but I expected this, since I used to join singing contests when I was in grade school. Judges usually ask auditionees to cut the song up to two minutes long. What I was surprised about was the fact that we won't be auditioning individually. What will we do? Will we all sing at the same time? I feel worry rising up my throat, but I immediately clear my head and gulped.
The panel looked at the sheets of paper before them, and then looked at us.
"Sijak". The man at the other end said.
"Start." The woman at the other end said. I assume she's the translator then.
Huh, all together then. I smiled, and then started singing.

I prepared for two possibilities: singing a short song or a full song. I didn't just practice singing though, I also practiced the dance, because I don't want to just audition, I want to perform, and this board of talent scouts is my audience. I picked a song which would display my vocal abilities and my energy, and rendered it, making impactful parts slower or add attitude to some appropriate parts. I chose 'I'll be Yours' by Girl's Day. Though I am highly fond of boy group's songs, I thought that maybe the panel is looking for girls who can play a part in a girl group, so I tried to show that I can take that part. I can be that girl.
The intro of 'I'll be Yours' is not that catchy and the dance involves a bench, so I adjusted those parts and started with the first verse instead. The first verse is very catchy and had quite a high note which I really like. I based my dance on the cute version of the dance, because I'm not yet comfortable venturing into the sexy version. I practiced my facial expressions as well so that it blends with the lyrics, adding winks at rare parts. There was a rap of some sort at the end of the chorus, composed of 25 syllables (yes I counted it, when practicing) which I think was a good way to show that I can rap as well. The chorus is just five lines long, so I managed to incorporate the bridge within those two minutes, because there was a series of high notes that I think is impressive. I smiled the whole time, blocking out the voices of the other auditionees so that I could focus on my performance. I once glanced at the panel but they were all unsmiling, so I focused on the camera instead. I ended the song with a pose and counted two seconds before straightening up and giving a bow. I guess we all finished at almost the same time, except for the girl beside me who sang for a few seconds longer than the rest of us.
