"That's it tonights the night! I hope she says yes!" A young man named Derek Hartman shouted from his bedroom in his and his best friend, Martin Landers apartment as he was adjusting his tie in front of the mirror that was in his bedroom.

Derek had the world in the palm of his hands. He was young and adventurous and was about to get his life on track. He was going to propose to his girlfriend of two years this evening. He had short blonde hair and great big brown eyes. He was tall and thin, a dream to almost any woman.

"Well she's not going to say no, she seems to be really into you, considering I get kicked out of the apartment at least six out of seven times a week!" Martin responded to him.

Martin was a little heavier then Derek. He had himself a girlfriend also but he wasn't as ready as Derek was for marriage. He had brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a red polo and a pair of khaki pants. He sat on the couch with his legs crossed and was reading the newspaper as he and Derek were shouting back and fourth at each other.

"Not my fault that you decide to leave on a daily basis six out of seven days a week when she comes over, " Derek responded to him as he was coming out of his bedroom holding his suit jacket.

"I leave because it's your business and your girlfriend and I give you guys some privacy. I also go to Graces and I get quality time with her. Oh and I don't have to listen to the sounds of nails on a chalk board."

Derek chuckled a little bit, "What are you saying that the sound Victoria's voice is annoying?"

Martin looked up at Derek who was now standing behind him, "yes that's what I'm trying to infer. Now while your out with Victoria tonight, I'm going to Graces," Martin looked at his watch, "oh geez looks at the time speak of the devil I have to go anyway," Martin told him as he put the paper down and got up from the couch.

Derek smiled, "So when are you going to pop the question? You obviously like her so much?"

"That's not your business yet," Martin started.

"What? Dude we've been best friends since college and you tell me everything." Derek responded.

"Well I'll tell you when I'm ready to tell you, we just need to get through your proposal first. Good luck and I'll see you in a bit," Martin told him as he grabbed his jacket from the hook next to the door.

Martin headed out and shortly after that Derek left for his big night. He was a little nervous as he thought about it as he drove to the restaurant.

When he got there his date was already there waiting at the table.
She was wearing a dress that had cheater print all over it. Her hair was long brunette and curly. It was has a small pony tail on top of her head. Her eyes were brown and her lips were red as a rose.

Derek smiled when he saw her, "Victoria, baby how's it going?" He started as he sat down in the chair across from her.

Victoria began to speak and she sounded almost as if she was Fran Drescher, "Fine, but I've been sitting here for well over forty-five minutes waiting for you," she responded with her arms crossed.

Derek swallowed, "oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to keep you waiting it took me a bit to get here."

Victoria crossed her arms, "Mhmm, you told me to be here at seven it's almost eight."

Derek scratched the back of his head, "I'm sorry, well hold on let me ask you something that will hopefully brighten your mood."

Derek got out of his chair and then got down on one knee. He pulled out the ring and opened the box, "Victoria Marie-"

Derek didn't even get to finish making his statement or ask the question when Victoria flipped out, "YES!" She shouted. She had taken one look at the ring. It had six small diamonds around the sides and one giant one in the middle.

She grabbed the ring out of the box and placed it on her finger.

Derek's shoulders dropped and then he got a small smile on his face. He got up off of his knee and leaned in to kiss his new fiancé.

She kissed his cheek and then proceeded to take out her phone and take pictures oh her engagement ring. She didn't even take a picture with him.

Derek was feeling down upon himself as she was on her phone, "Derek!" She started as soon as she put her phone down.

He smiled at her slightly, "yes dear?" He started.

"When do think we should have the wedding?"

"I don't know, whenever you'd like. I'm happy as long as your happy," he said to her.

"Okay great! I was thinking of having a big white wedding in May and inviting all of my family and all our friends."

"What about my family?" Derek asked.

"Oh yeah there invited too," she laughed.

Derek chuckled a little and put a fake smile on his face.
