Down in the police department in a cell stood three different people. Martin, Grace, and Kate. They were tired and hungry all from trying to save their friend. They had spent almost forty-eight hours behind these one set of bars because no one had come to get any of them.
Martin had spent almost all night trying to explain to the cops the true story of what really happened at the engagement party the night before. No one was listening.
They had also gotten word that Derek was getting married that day. They had been hearing information from the police officers whose kids were friends with Victoria.
Kate was more upset with herself than anything. She couldn't believe that she had gotten involved with a man who was supposed to be getting married. She liked him even though she had just met him. She could see the pain he was going through and wanted to him get out of the situation but here she was with his two friends sitting in jail.
Grace had been trying to get to know Kate better but had also been talking her off the ledge and telling her that she didn't mess anything up for Derek and that she was only pulled in to help him out and so that he could see her.
Grace had told Kate that Derek had asked for her to especially come and rescue him.
As Martin stood bored behind the cell bars he mumbled, "We are never getting out of here!" He started.
Grace looked at him, "That's not true, someone will come and get us. I mean Kate and I still have our one phone call. You already used yours last night to try and get a hold of Derek and you saw how that worked out."
Martin rolled his eyes, "Grace I know, I was trying to see if I could get him to come here, I don't know where he is, all's I know is that he was with Victoria and marrying her last I knew. I don't know how the hell she planned a wedding in twenty-four hours."
"I don't know, she's Victoria, she's crazy. Crazy to the point that she shot Derek two nights ago to make him stay."
"True," Kate added to the conversation.
Martin looked at Grace, "When and If we get married, give it a year. We need all the planning in the world."
Grace looked up at him, "When and if? Why is that even a question?" Grace asked.
"Well, you never know what could happen in the next month or so?" Martin told her.
"What's that supposed to mean? You're not going to marry me?" Grace asked starting to sound upset.
Martin smiled at her and then got down on one knee in front of her, "Grace I never said that I wasn't going to marry you, Would you marry me . . . If I asked you?" He asked with a smile on his face.
"You know you're really messing with me and that is such a dumb question Martin, of course, I would."
Kate smiled watching the two, "How long have you two been together?"
"Two years," Grace told Kate.
Martin looked down at the ground and then he looked back up at Grace. He grabbed her hand, "Grace?"
"Hmm?" She responded.
"If we get out of here soon, which I hope-"
As Martin was making his speech to Grace there was a lot of yelling and stuff moving around from outside of the cell.
Grace and Kate got up and looked out of the cell. Martin stayed on his knee for a moment and then got up to join them. He thought to himself, maybe now isn't the right time.
