Right when he said those words I knew what he meant."Sans.." I started crying. "W-why didn't you tell me?"
"I d-didn't want to get you involved," he answered, on the brink of tears.
I hugged him again, trying to let my love reach him. "C-can I see it?" I whispered.
"N-no, please d-don't." I felt his fear in invisible waves, he was in so much pain. I wanted to shield him from anything that wanted to hurt him.
It is possible for monsters to have fractured souls, but it's very rare and dangerous. It has terrible side affects that vary with different kinds of monsters. I knew Sans was depressed, but I didn't think he was this bad.
"W-what caused it?" I was scared to ask, but I had to know.
Sans sighed, "The main problem is the resets."
Resets? "W-what are resets?"
Sans let go and looked at me, "it's... hard to explain, but it's how I knew that a human would come." Sans continued to go into detail about what they were. It shocked me that he knew so much, and it pained me that he had to go through so much.
"Sans, I'm so sorry.." I felt so terrible for him, I felt like I needed to help him. I cared about him so much, I can't stand not being there when he needs me. "I-is there anything I can do to help?"
Sans POV
"I-is there anything I can do to help?"
If you kissed me that would be great. I couldn't help not falling in love with him, he's so amazing. I wish I could tell him how I feel, but I'm scared of what he'll think. Should I do it? I started getting nervous.
"N-no, there's nothing right now."
"Oh.. Okay..." a moment of silence passed before I broke it.
"Uh, Grillby?" I waved my bloody hand at him, "Can I get a towel, or something?"
"Oh! Yeah, sorry." Grillby left into the kitchen and got me a small towel, and I cleaned my hand.
"Thanks."
"No problem.. and, uh, your phone's ringing," He handed me my phone from the bed stand and took the towel to get the blood off in the kitchen.
I answered the phone, "Hi, Paps."
"Hello, Sans!" Papyrus said cheerfully. Then he spoke more quietly, "is Grillby in the room?"
"No, he's in the kitchen."
"Soooo? How's it going with him? Spill the tea."
I smiled at his use of words, then changed into a more frantic tone, "I really don't know, I'm scared, Pap, it's too much for me to bear, I need help!"
"Okay, okay, calm down. Just confess to him. And if he rejects you, then that's that, you can move on."
"B-but what if he hates me?"
"Don't be ridiculous, Sans, he would never hate you. You two have been friends since forever! I'll leave you to it. If you can't do it yet then wait a bit, okay?"
"O-okay, bye." Papyrus ended the call.
Grillby came into the room moments later. I-I'll tell him later, I thought. It's not like we're going anywhere.
"Hey, is everything okay?" He asked. God, he's so cute.
"Yeah.." I answered. At least, for now it's okay.
(Time Skip)
It's been almost 2 weeks and a half since the accident, and I still hadn't told him about my feelings. We've just been listening to the radio and played board games. I once woke up to him hugging me from behind in his sleep. He looked so cute when he was flustered.
I had more cough attacks, I was getting worse. The anxiety of falling in love was too much to handle for me. Grillby looked so sad whenever I rejected his help, that broke me down even more. But my wounds got better, I didn't need bandages anymore. At least something's improving.
Grillby was sitting in the middle of the bed, reading a book, while I sat a couple feet away beside him, leaning on the wall. He put his book down and turned to me.
"You seem deep in thought, Sans, is everything alright?"
"Y-yeah, just..." I sighed. "Can I tell you something?"
"Sure what is it?" His voice was laced with care, it made my soul melt.
I took a deep breath. This was it. "Um... I.." Just say it! "I have f-feelings for you, and.. I have for a long time, but, I was too afraid to say, and I-" Grillby hugged me tightly, and with shaky hands, I hugged back.
"Me too.." he whispered. I couldn't believe it. He was mine. I felt my soul pulsing through my shirt, glowing brightly with love.
He let go, and stared at me with affection, and put his hand on my chest, where my soul was. My breathing hitched when he touched me, and he quickly took his hand away.
"D-did I hurt you?" His voice was panicky.
"N-no, I'm just... s-sensitive, there.." I blushed. And Grillby blushed even harder.
To break the awkward tension, I said quickly, "I-I'm getting ketchup," and stumbled off the bed to walk to the kitchen.
Once I saw the ketchup on a ledge, I noticed I was too short to reach it... I tried anyway but all the ketchup bottles ended up falling on me, knocking me down. I heard footsteps entering the room and turned around to find Grillby laughing his ass off. I gave him an unamused look and, still laughing, he walked over and helped me pick up all the bottles. I rubbed my head, a bottle must've hit me.
"Did you get hit?" Grillby snickered.
"I'll just drink it off.." I said unenthusiastically.
"Drinking? At this time? It's morning, Sans."
"I can barely tell the difference," I shrugged.
"Well, if you're drinking, then I'm drinking." Grillby declared, standing up to get some beers.
I smiled. "Alright." I stood up with my ketchup bottle and walked back to the bedroom while Grillby got the beers.
I sat down on the bed and started drinking my ketchup. Grillby came in seconds later with 2 beer packages. He knows me too well.
I was a heavy drinker, Grillby knew that. I didn't know about Grillby, though. He's not supposed to drink when he runs his shop. But when I stay after hours, I see him drink a couple.
Grillby snapped me out of my thoughts when he took a Monopoly box out. Drinking, AND Monopoly?
Today's gonna be fun.
