CHAPTER 10

May's pov

"Hey may"

Oh no, please don't be her, please don't be her. I mentally begged the moon goddess or Good or whoever's there to help me in making the person not to turn out to Mathilda. Our school queen bee. And her minions.

But no, it turned out to be just the one person I'd love not to meet now. Actually, I'd love not to meet anyone now. No attention, no friends.

"Hi Mathilda" I slammed my locker door shut.
"Hey yourself"
"What do you want", I replied with a forced smile. Just say what you want already.

"Oh, nothing really, we just came to offer our sympathy. We heard Jake turned out to be your friend's mate."  She shook her head and clicked her front teeth with her tongue.
I opened my mouth to reply but she held up her hand to shut me up.

" You know, I always wondered why such a lively and lovely girl always hangout with you guys. I mean it's so pathetic. You and that pathetic human Luna with Sam makes a horrible combination. And she being the smartie of the group decided to leave the losers and join the winning team. Isn't it Sam"

I looked around. There's no Sam here, what's she saying

"That's right Mathilda".

Oh no, it's not possible. My best friend with these people makes no sense.

"Hi May". My best friend Sam came out behind Mathilda with a sickening smirk on her face as she spoke my name with utter disgust.

"Sam what's going on" I finally found my voice.
"Nothing much, just that I felt I need a change of friends. And I changed."

"Sam, this is not you."

"No, sweetheart this is so me, but you guys have failed to realize it. You know all those times you used to tell me, 'sam if you really want something, go for it' and now I have gone for it"

"When Jake became mine, you still wouldn't leave him alone. What's your problem, he is my mate not yours." She basically shouted that part.

By this time everyone in the hallway were already staring at us.

"Sam what's wrong with you, what has these people done to you" I asked gesturing to Mathilda and her minions.

She scoffs. "You mean them opening my eyes to see the sort of losers I have been hanging out with. It's not so bad May. I have had enough of you making faces with my mate. Why can't you just get it into your brain that he is mine not yours. Mine. Whatever you guys had in the past it's all gone, just pretend you never happened. And before you know it, all feelings will be gone."

"Sam stop please"  I was already in tears. The emotion was too much for me to put in. And now it's a million times worse when my own best friend whom I thought I knew like the back of my hand is the one insulting me in the front of the whole school.

"Sam why are you doing this to me. I thought we were friends"

"Yeah, you got that right, we were, now listen to me you bitch" this time she was standing so close to me with barely any space in between us with a deadly snarl on her face.
"Jake is mine and mine only. And I'm so possessive of what's mine. So go close to him if you really want to face my wrath."

She shifted back but held my tear filled chin up with two fingers "all in one word, stay away from him and we'll both be good. Sweetheart".

She blew me a kiss and spun around with the rest of her group following. They laughed at something Mathilda said which I'm sure was about me.
After they left, everyone in the Hallway started leaving too. Some with looks of pity, some with amused faces and others just neutral.

I turned around and made my way to the bathroom but not before I saw Jake at his locker with a look of hurt or at least that's what I thought I saw. But I don't care anymore. It's about time I stopped this sick feeling. It's about time.

Jake's pov

Sam, what have you done, scratch that, it's Jake what have you done.
I thought as I saw May running to the bathroom, our eyes made contact but she broke it. I could have actually gone forward and saved her from those harassment. But no I stayed back and watched her suffer. Sam is taking this to far.

'what do you mean too far, it's normal for a mate to be possessive. It's the other girl that should know when to stop.We are not hers again. Mate's basically protecting her territory'. My wolf said and purred.

' but that doesn't mean she should be so rude, that's bad. She hurt her best friend's feeling'. I replied

'then give her a reason not to. Love mate and mate only, I'm sure if May finds her mate, she'll forget about you instantly. But mate will never forget about us. My wolf said dreamily.
I swear my wolf behaves like a teenage girl.
I felt a hand wrap itself around my waist from behind and those tingles confirmed it's my mate.
My wolf hopped in joy and wiggled its tail in content.
"Hi pretty" I said
"Hey yourself" she made her way to my front. "Did you like the little drama I made earlier.
"Sam, I think you are taking this too far, I mean why don't you let the poor girl be. We are mates and nothing will come between us no matter how pretty anyone is "

"Are you implying I'm not pretty" she asked with tears welling up in her eyes.

You made her cry. My wolf shouted at me.

Will you shut up and let me handle this.  I replied and pushed it away.

"I would never say that my love, you're the prettiest of them all. You're my queen, my jewel, my heart beats for you only. All I'm saying is that let her be. She means nothing to me anymore".

"If there's nothing between you guys any more, why do you want me to stop treating her badly." She asked

"Because you guys are friends?" That sounded more like a question.

"Nope, we are not friends any longer, so I treat her anyhow I want right?" She asked with a you-better-give-me-the-answer-i-want look.

"Have it your way princess". I sighed and hugged her close to me.

May, you're in a lot of shit.
