Sam and Harry still remained laying on the floor. Her fingers ran through his hair, his arms wrapped around her waist. Neither saying a word because they both knew they'd ruin whatever was happening. Neither of them wanted to acknowledge what had just happened.
They'd ignored each other for weeks, each pretending the other didn't exist, both knowing it wasn't supposed to end the way it had.
Sure most of Sam's friends had tried their best to convince her to give up on the idea of ever getting back with him, but she'd never wanted to let go of him. They'd told her to walk away, that he wasn't worth her time, but she couldn't.
She couldn't give up on them even if she wanted to. Even when they told her to move on to more important things, even when everyone around her said they'd end in disaster over and over again. She couldn't bring her heart to let go.
They'd told her that sure he could stay in her heart, but he wasn't meant to stay in her life. Yeah, she wasn't for that. They couldn't tell her what she could and couldn't do. She was her own person and she made her own decisions.
The bell on the door jingles, signaling that a customer had walked in the door.
The scruffy looking pirate, rang the bell next to the cash register not bothering to look for her.
Sam muttered incoherent things under her breath as she pulled out of Harry's grasp, standing up and tapping her nails on the counter to catch the pirate's attention. The very same pirate she'd bumped into the day before.
"Hi Blondie." The pirate said, placing the items he wanted to buy on the counter.
"Hi." Sam said.
"How much for this?" He asked, holding up a fishing rod and some nets.
"Two gold coins." Sam said as the man frowned.
"That seems a bit much for a fishing rod and some nets lass." The pirate said. "Would you like to change the price?"
"I said two gold coins," Sam said. "And that's final."
"Why you little snake." The pirate said. "First you scare me for my life and now you're retaliating by raising the price on me. Poor form, lass. I'll fight you for that. I will not be disrespected by you, or anyone of your bloodline."
"I'd like to see you try," Sam said, tilting her head to the side. "I don't think you can fight me even if you wanted to. You seem too old anyway,"
"Too old?" The man echoed. "No lass. I'm not too old. And your in no state to fight me yourself. It wouldn't be smart of you anyway."
"Who told you about that?" Sam said, staring accusingly at the man.
"Word gets around fast." The man said. "The Enchantress told your friends and I overheard it,"
"I swear I need to talk to that lady." Sam said. "I don't appreciate her talking about me behind my back. Telling people things I told her not to tell anyone."
"It's exactly what you think lass." The man said. "It's only a matter of time. Now your catching on." The man said. "But I've said much to much. Here's your two gold coins."
He slid them across the counter, before exiting the shop.
"I don't know what you got out of that." Harry said, standing up. "But you did. Can you please enlighten me?"
Sam didn't reply, wrapping a hand around his wrist and leading him out the door.
"Where are we going?" Harry asked, slipping his hand into hers.
"To talk to the Enchantress." Sam said.
"Hey Sam!" Someone called from behind them. The two stopped in their tracks, turning around to look at who'd called: Heather.
"Hi Heather?" Sam said, as the girl finally reached them.
"Oh." Heather said. "Didn't think I'd make it this far. Oh right. Stay away from the Enchantress."
"Stay away...? Why?" Sam asked.
"Because she doesn't want to see you right now." Heather said.
"How do you know?" Sam asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Because she said she didn't want to see you." Heather said. "Not yet at least."
"But what if I want to see her?" Sam asked, as Heather shook her head.
"No means no, Sam." Heather said. "The Enchantress has no reason for you to talk to her."
"No reason to-." Sam said. "Yes she does. Who goes around telling everyone something about me, when I told her not to tell anyone?"
"You're being very irrational here, Sam." Heather said. "She had her own reasons of telling us before people found out. So don't shoot the messenger."
"I wasn't going to." Sam said. "I wouldn't try to kill you. Who do you take me for?"
"A person who doesn't think before they do." Heather said. "And does something they'll regret."
"I still don't see why you think I'd try to kill you." Sam said.
"You're Sam." Heather said. "You do a lot of things that surprise us."
"Whats that even mean?" Sam asked.
"Oh nothing really." Heather said. "Stop asking questions. Don't you have your brothers to babysit."
"I do." Sam said as Heather took the opportunity to walk away.
"So we aren't going to talk to the Enchantress?" Harry asked.
"No." Sam said. "I'm going to go pick up my brothers from school. I'll see you later okay?"
Sam didn't wait for an answer as she made her way toward Serpent Prep, a school she had gone to for much her life before ditching all together. She wasn't learning anything new. There was no point in trying. It was the same thing over and over because education wasn't important on the Isle, so she'd taught herself from watching the TV.
Watching King Beast give speeches had helped her learn how to talk. She didn't want to admit it but she was glad Evie had gotten her chance, it wasn't like she could ever tell her anyway.
