Percy uncapped Riptide, the glowing bronze sword emerging from the pen. He slashed through the hand-made dummies in the arena, and soon was fully exhausted. He sat down next to the water cooler. He heard a voice and looked up. "A-are you Percy Jackson?" The voice spoke in awe.
The girl had long wavy blonde hair, with aqua colored tips. Her eyes were a stormy grey, like Annabeth's, yet not, because a small ring of faded orange encircled her pupils. She was holding a Stygian iron dagger, and a dog charm necklace was strung around her neck. "Hello? Are you okay?" Her voice came from a distant place.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, yeah, I'm fine." He stated, patting the ground next to him for her to sit down. "My name's Chrissie," She stated, plopping down on the ground next to Percy. "So are you Percy Jackson or not?" Chrissie asked. "Percy Jackson, that's me! Blue foods and lots of water!" He smiled a goofy grin and she laughed.
She started talking really fast and animatedly, so that Percy couldn't tell what she was saying. Suddenly she stopped and said, "Sorry if I'm talking fast, I do this when I'm nervous, or excited, or-" Chrissie cut off her own sentence and blushed.
"Anyways," She continued, "How's the golden couple doing?" To her surprise Percy looked down at the ground sadly. 'Should I tell her, or not?' He thought. 'I just met her, but I need someone to spill to! Oh gods what do I do???' He decided on this; "If I tell you about the "Golden Couple, you tell me what you were going to say." Chrissie smiled. "Deal."
"So," Percy started. "Annabeth and I were doing just fine, but I knew something was wrong. I never got that spark you get when you kiss someone you really love, so I told her we weren't right for each other. I explained that I felt pushed into the relationship, being the 'golden couple.' She sadly agreed, but I knew she felt the same way. And that's how the golden couple came to be the broken couple."
Percy finished explaining like it was hard for him to struggle through every word, and he was bent over the ground, as a tear rolled off his cheek into the dusty soil. "Percy..." Chrissie started. "I-I'm so sorry. I didn't know." She smiled and as he sat up, pulling him into a bear hug. "Well, earlier I was going to say I talk fast when I'm nervous, excited, or talking to my crush." She finished, blushing.
Piper came over to them and said "dinnertime, you two!" She ran off towards the dining pavilion, Annabeth close in per suit. Chrissie smiled and jumped up, "See you around Percy!" She shouted over her shoulder as she followed Annabeth and Piper towards the dining hall. Percy jumped up and sprinted after them, happy about the new friend he had just made.
