"Hey," Sam says into the phone when I called him. He sounded tired.
"Hey, sorry did I wake you?" I asked it was 2:30 am.
We've already been here for 4 days now. It's been fun, those guys that we met at the beach, invited us to a party but I forced Austin to stay with me home like he forces me to go out with him."No. I was actually just gonna call you," he says. "How's it been?" He asks.
"Good, dad's having a barbecue tomorrow. Inviting his friends, Caleb and his family obviously. I might invite some people me and Austin have met," I tell him.
"Nice," he says. "Kinda miss you."
"Kinda...? Wow thanks," I joke he laughs.
"Shut up, you know I miss you" he says.
"Yeah, I miss you too" I admit."Good, I would've felt super lame if you didn't say it back" he says and I laugh.
"How are Austin and Caleb?" He asks. "I've texted Caleb a bit.""Yeah, Caleb is whatever. There are a couple guys we know that he talks to. Austin's living his life," I reply.
"How has it only been 4 days?" He asks.
"It does feel longer doesn't it," I nod.
"Yeah. I've been getting coffee alone and I feel pathetic. I'm pretty sure the girl at the coffee place thinks we broke up or something," he laughs.
"Oof, just give it a week and a half" I said.
"That long?" He groans. "You're killing me here."
"Can't do much about it. Sorry," I say. "Everyone good over there?"
"Yeah. Awesome. We've been doing nothing pretty much," he says and I laugh. "Ya, whatever."
"Do stuff then," I tell him.
"Not as easy when my closest people are all over there. I mean they're my friends, but I'm not that close... ya dig?" he says.
"Yeah. Idiot," I laugh."Ugh. Jo, I've been in bed for the whole day and I'm pretty sure I'm starting to develop shingles or some shit," he says and I roll my eyes even though he can't see me.
"Not at all how you get shingles," I tell him he laughs.
"Bed sores. I don't know, it's happening" he says.
"You can be more dramatic than me. I don't believe you," I tell him.
"Yeah. Whatever," he says. "Can you give me the phone to Austin? He's not answering my texts."
"He's taking a shower right now. What about?" I asked."Something, he was asking me about, he's taking a shower at 2:00 am?" he says.
"Yeah, we were swimming earlier and he didn't. And I'll tell him to look at his messages, or see if he even got any" I reply.
"Ya thanks," he replies. What was this about? Huh?We talked for almost 2 hours before Austin forced me off of it so we could watch a movie.
~
I woke up that morning half off the bed and I heard people talking downstairs. I grab my phone checking the time. 10:00. Pretty early. 3 hours of sleep only. I get out of bed and go to the washroom. I brush my teeth and head downstairs. I smelt food and went to the kitchen. Dad, grams, Lila and Luke were there.
"Morning," I said they all look my way.
"Morning," they all reply. Grams was making breakfast.
"Where's your annoying son?" I asked Lila she laughs.
"Sleeping," she replies and I make myself a coffee she watches with a smile.
"You look like a creepy Uncle," I tell her.
"Why not Aunt?" She questions."No one knows a creepy aunt," I tell her
"You remind me of your mom right now," she tells me. "She woke up every morning and made a coffee immediately."
"Probably why I love coffee so much," I say.
"So, hows Sam?" She smiles."Good, talk to him yesterday" I reply.
"You guys are so cute," she tells me I roll my eyes.
"Ya, we're whatever" I said she laughs. "Dad, I invited some people."
"Whatever," he waves me off.
"Wonderful," I laugh. "Gonna go wake up Austin," I tell Lila she nods and I head upstairs. I head upstairs and back into the room where Austin was sound asleep. "Twatakiss. Wake up," I said and he groans. "Come on. I know factually you're gonna want to spend half the day getting ready for this barbecue," I add.
"Don't ever call me twatakiss again," he says and I laugh at my own choice of words.
"Whatever, I need to shower" I tell him placing my coffee on the shelf and going to the washroom. After my shower Austin was searching through his bags throwing clothes everywhere.
"What should we wear?" He asks and I was just in my towel and I roll my eyes.
"Dude, you're making a mess" I tell him going to my bag and grabbing some neutral clothes for the moment so I can be clothed.
"Don't care. We need to look hot," he tells me.
"Why? It's a barbecue," I say and go back into the washroom and change.
"Because hot guys. You have a boyfriend so nothing for you but I mean... maybe I can turn one of them gay. Right?" He asks. "Plus I like feeling good.""You're too hyper for my liking. It's a barbecue. With friends and family. Chill," I tell him sitting on my bed. "What if those guys can't even make it?"
"They can, wrote to them obviously," he tells me."We met them like 4 days ago. They're barely even friends," I say.
"SO WHAT!" He exclaims.
"You're lame," I laugh. I grab my phone and text Sam.ME: Hey B
ME: Ew that was trash.
ME: Delete thatME: Anyway, hey
I roll my eyes at myself and put my phone down while Austin goes through my bags as well.
~
"Austin, I'm not wearing this dress for a barbecue my dad will see me at. And where there will be guys, I'm not a slut" I tell him. He wanted me to wear the dress I wore for my birthday party.
"Fine, you're right. It's dramatic," he laughs I nod."I'm wearing this," I pull out some jean shorts and tank top. I put it on with the tank top tucked in.
"Hey, you're boobs look nice," he lifts them up a bit and I swat his hand away and he laughs.
"You look good too dramatic whore. It's a barbecue," I say and he grins.
"Selfie time!" He chirps.
"Later," I put on the slightest makeup. Some mascara and fixed my eyebrows a bit then I went downstairs and Caleb showed up. "Hey ass-face," I push his head and he rolls his eyes.
"Don't touch me," he tells me and I laugh.
"Get out of your mood, guys will be here," I tell him.
"No mood, I'm just tired. Mom forced me to get up," he shrugs."You'll live," Austin its next to me. There's a knock at the door and I look at it unwilling to move.
"I'll get it," Austin laughs at me.
"Who is it?" I asked as h walks towards the door.
"Haven't opened it yet idiot," he rolls his eyes and opens the door and I see Brandon, Dylan and Nate. Why were they here so early?"Hey," they said when they walked in.
"Hi, why are you here this early?" I asked.
"Austin.." Nate drifts looking at Austin.
"Right, well the actual barbecues not until 5:30 so don't get annoyed of any of us" I tell them and Brandon sits next to me and I pull out my phone. Still no reply from Sam.ME: At least let me know you're alive..
I put it down.
"What's up?" Brandon asks me and I turn to look at him and he was closer than wanted. I scoot over a bit."Nothing. What's up with you?" I reply.
"Not much," he grins.
"You seem a bit frustrated," he tells me.
"I'm fine," I say. Was not about to tell a pretty much random guy my boyfriend isn't replying to my texts.
"Ok," he laughs. "So, why didn't you and Austin come to that party?"
"Didn't want to. We were just hanging out," I shrug.
"You missed out," he adds.
"Yeah, missed out" Dylan adds in.
"I'm sure there's more than one party to go to... here" I said.
"Yeah," they nod. "And you guys should come to the next one."
I take another look at my phone.
"Are you expecting someone?" Brandon asks.
"No. I'm expecting a reply from somebody," I said.
"Who? Your boyfriend you didn't tell us about?" He grins as if it would be a joke that I have a boyfriend.
"Yeah," I nod. He looks at me surprised.
"You have a boyfriend?" He asks.
"Yeah, is that surprising?" I asked.
"You just didn't bring it up," he shrugs.
"We talked twice at most," I say. "I wasn't gonna be that girl that if you even look at me I'll be like. 'I HAVE A BOYFRIEND' I'm not like that," I reply.
"Oh, why isn't he here?" He asks.
"Because... Austin is," I reply. I look at my phone again. "Anyway. Do any of you of you want a drink?" I asked standing.I hope his dad's okay, and this has nothing to do with that.
