After school that day, I went to Lance's house. I wasn't lying when I said that I intended to find out what was bothering him. I had no way of figuring it out during class, so my only other option was to come over.

He didn't actually invite me or anything, but that doesn't matter. I'm sure he won't mind. Plus, it's not like he would need to tell me his address or anything since that's something I've known for years. I've even been there a handful of times. Not in the house, unfortunately, but I've stood outside his bedroom window and watched him for a while. It was so nice.

"Keith?" He seems surprised as he opens the door to find me standing patiently outside of it. "What... what are you doing here? How'd you even find where I live?"

"Don't worry about it," I can't help but roll my eyes a bit at all his unnecessary questions as I push past him and welcome myself into the house.

A warm smile immediately spreads onto my lips as soon as I enter the front room. The heavenly scent that both Lance and his house share washes over and it makes me feel like I'm surrounded by him from every direction. The feeling is absolutely euphoric. I don't ever want to leave this wonderful place.

After taking in the smell, I open my eyes and gaze at the house's contents. It's not a big house. The first floor has only a living room, a small kitchen, and possibly a bathroom. But despite that, it's beautiful. Framed, as well as non-framed, photographs of Lance and many others that look like him fill the walls and every flat surface available. If I could, I would spend hours examining every single one until I was able to figure out exactly what was happening when each one was taken. Until every single image was permanently imprinted in my mind.

"You're home is so lovely," I practically sigh as I let my eyes linger on a picture of him when he was in, I'm guessing, first grade or so. He wore the brightest smile I had ever seen, even with one of his front two teeth missing, and my heart completely melts at the sight of it.

"Uh, thank you." I hear Lance reply and I turn to see him sheepishly rub at the back of his neck, a quirk I've noticed he does often.

"Where is everyone?" I question, looking back towards a family photo. From the looks of it, he has a huge family, but the whole house is empty. Where could they all be? They better not have abandoned him. If they had, it gives me an even better reason to never leave. I couldn't stand it if my beautiful Lance was ever lonely for even a minute. I would do everything in my power to make sure he never feels that way again.

"Oh, uh, my mom's at work... my sister's at soccer practice and I think my dad's with her," He turned his head upwards as if to search inside his own mind. "My brother's at work and my sister-in-law is with my nephew at his piano lesson. Oh! And my other brother and sister are off at college so they're usually not here anyway."

He gives a small grin after explaining, seemingly proud of himself for remembering all the different whereabouts of his many family members.

"Wow, your family seems quite active." I comment, smiling back at him sweetly.

"Yeah... Yeah I guess so." He slowly nods in agreement. "So, uh, whatcha doing here?"

"Right," I compose myself upon remembering the main reason I had come here in the first place and stepped closer to him. "Something about you seemed... off today."

"Off?" He raises a questioning eyebrow and tilts his head slightly to the side. "What do you mean?"

"Well..." I glance down towards the floor, furrowing my eyebrows as I search for the right words. "I... I'm sure it wasn't on purpose, but... it kind of felt like you were ignoring me."
