Today was Monday. The day I had been dreading all weekend. I looked at myself in a mirror for the first time last night. Needless to say, I was a mess. A black eye, cuts on my face and neck. The bruise on my stomach looked worse in the mirror. All I wanted to do was sleep, but sadly, I had to go to school. Calum and Joavie picked me up from Luke's house yesterday around 4:30pm. After that, Cal and I stayed at Joavies mom's apartment until 3am. I cried my heart out to them and they gave me more than enough hugs. My mom stayed up all night waiting for me to come home. She made me explain what had happened and she was more than mortified. She told me to stay away from Patrick as best as I can while she talks to the police. I faught with her for more than an hour to not call the police, but she ended up winning.
I spun my spoon around in circles in my cereal. I was to anxious to stomach anything so I put the bowl in the sink and waited on the couch for Calum to pick me up. I watched a stupid reality show while I waited. I was terrified to go to school. I didn't want to see Patrick or Luke or Ashton for that matter because I knew for a fact that Luke and Ashton are gonna act different because Patricks around. I heard Calum honk for me. I exhaled loudly and grabbed my bag off of the floor. I sulked outside. I could see Calum rocking out to whatever song was blaring through the closed tattered windows. I opened the car door. He quickly turned down the radio. I looked over to him before shutting the door. He was all smiles, as usual.
"Look alive, sunshine," Calum punched me, quoting our favourite My Chemical Romance song. I rolled my eyes and rubbed the spot on my arm that he had punched. He sung the entire song and another song that I had never heard of before. I could tell he was just trying to cheer me up, but it was gonna take a lot more than a teenage boy overdramatizing some songs to make me smile. We pulled into the parking lot. "Listen," Calum paused. "I know that you're gonna have a rough day, but I want to let you know that everything is gonna get better and that i'm always here for you, okay?" He said in a hushed tone. I nodded, biting my bottom lip. He got out of the car and grabbed his bag. I threw my bag over my shoulder. "You're gonna be alright," Calum reassured, placing his hand on my left shoulder. "I'll see you at lunch." I nodded again and walked past him into the god awful hallway. I had science, then gym, which I was hoping I could get out of. I sat down in science. I refused to disect an sheep eyeball so I took notes as my lab partner, James, happily disected the eye. James and I both gagged a couple times. After class was over I made my way to the gym hallway. I walked into the change room and took my shorts and t-shirt out of my bag. I looked around before quickly taking off my shirt. The change room went quiet.
"What happened to her?" A girl whispered, referring to the gigantic bruise on my stomach and face. A handful of whispers were tossed around before I turned around to grab my other shirt. I avoided eye contact with everyone as I locked my things into a small locker and left the change room. I, unfortunately, have a mixed gym class with both girls and boys. I sat down on a bench between a very sweet girl named Angela and my lab partner, James. I was very thankful that neither of them even questioned my "beat-up" face. Gym was rough. I had to do crunches, which hurt like hell and honestly, almost made me cry. We ran laps, played a game and that was about it. I kept my gym shirt on and put my hoodie over top of it. I put back on my jeans, then sprayed myself with perfume. I walked by myself to my locker and shoved everything, including my bag into it. I then walked to the caf. I plopped down onto the chair next to Joavie.
"Shoot me," I mumbled, cutting her off. I rested my head on her shoulder. She pet my hair and continued talking to Calum about this musical her and her acting group had been working on and how she could get both of us in for free.
"Want it?" Calum asked.
"What?" I said quickly. I must've been zoning out. He held out a peanut butter sandwhich. I lifted my head off of Joavies shoulder and took the sandwhich from his hand. "Thank you," I half-smiled. He smiled in return. I ate the sandwhich quietly and started to contribute to some conversation.
