change [luke]

prologue

My head pounded against my skull the more he stared into my eyes.

"That's it? This didn't even matter to you did it?" He laughed, but not humorously at all. His two arms slapped against his legs as brought them down from his hair, which he was viciously tugging at.

"Luke don't say that, of course it mattered" I finally found my voice.

"That's the thing Aimi, I've been here busting my arse off and you come in here saying all these sweet things, I think I've finally done it and she's come back to me after two fucking years but no. You didn't mean for it to slip but it did. Were you just not going to tell me?" He yelled, a vein popping out in his neck. In all the years I've known Luke Hemmings, not once has he ever been this angry.

"Luke please don't do this. I just realised how much I need you. I've been dying for so long and now I feel like you're reviving me. I can't go slip out of consciousness again" I whispered, tears slipping freely down my cheeks. I'd never felt so defeated in all my life. My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach every time I looked up at him.

"That's great Aimi, where'd you hear that one? The Notebook?" He sniggered, grabbing his keys off the table.

"Luke" I called in desperation, he hovered before the door, letting his hand rest on the doorknob, a little way of showing that he was listening.

"Nothing has changed between us. Were still the same as we'll always be. Luke and Aimi, Aimi and Luke. Don't do this. I-I love you" I said my voice pleading. For a moment I thought he was rethinking his decisions and was going to run back to me and press kisses all over my face, telling me he's sorry for yelling and he loves me too. But no, of course not.

He chuckled darkly once again.

"You said it yourself Aimi love, things change. People change"
