**** Just a little note- Marcia is pronounced Mar-C( as in ssss for snake)-ia. And her nickname Marc is like Mar- sss (s like snake or snow) Not like Mark***
When the bell rang at the end of my first day at Sir Campston I jumped in my car and drove home right away, not bothering to collect Marcia on the way. When I finally pulled up at the house ran inside, changed out of my geek uniform and into an ACDC shirt and a pair of skinny jeans and Vans then grabbed my skateboard and rode down the street. I headed for SpringCrest High, to the skatepark there hoping to see my mates.
shouldn't have gotten my hopes up of course, because the first thing I saw was Marcia's angry face as she marched towards me.
"What took you so long? and where's you feaking car? I have been waiting here for ages!" She yells, and I grab her by the wrist and drag her with me, still riding. Suddenly she jumps on my back, and I wobble almost falling of my skateboard. it's hard and she's heavy, despite her small size, but I manage to skate to the park adjoining the school with some ease. As soon as I arrive Marcia swings off my back to see all my buds. They do their cool handshakes and fake punch each other and Marcia starts wrestling with Tod.
"Hey man! Great to see you Marc!" Jake cries, slapping me on the back. Marcia rolls her eyes and sticks out her tongue, she acts tough despite her crush on him. "Hey Josh, haven't seen you since the party, where've you been huh?"
"Oh he's been at Sir Campston Grammar, enjoying the ambience and the distinguished teachers and the prestigious education." Marcia says in a mock posh voice. I pick her up and sling her over my shoulder. She punches and kicks, laughing at me. I drop her, hoping she'll land on her head, but I've got to admire the reflexive roll to her feet, yet I don't admire the pretty much automatic kick to my shins.
"Yeah, I've moved schools, not by choice though, hate it." I shrug, then use my foot to flick the board up off teh ground into my hands. "But seriously bro, let's not talk about school, let's ride." I say, and Tod, Jake, Sam, Cory, Malcolm and Drake all grab their boards cheering and we climb to the tops of teh slopes and cruise down. I show off, purely to shove it in Marcia's face that I'm way better than her at skateboarding, I do some flips in the air, a three sixty, and try out a nosemanual fakie fortunately ending in success.
Marcia steals Malcolm's board and tries to outshine me, doing a frontside 180 and landing on the railing, riding down and spinning, holding out her board before landing on it again. the guys laugh and so do I, but sarcastically. Eventually we stop and chill out the crest of the hill, which is partly why SpringCrest is called what is is, because in spring the hill is iconic and pretty sweet, you know with cool wildflowers and stuff. Nature-obsessed people come here to explore it and take pictures.
We sit and the sun starts to set. Sam disappears and comes back with some cans of beer. i crack mine open and take a sip.
"can I have some?" Marcia asks.
"No way, you're just a kid!" I tease. She scowls.
"Nah, I'm nearly fifteen." she argues.
"Exactly, and I'm nearly seventeen."
"You're sixteen."
"So?"
"So?"
"Shut up."
"No you shut up."
"No."
"Give me a sip!"
"Yeah just a bit dude!" Jake cuts in, and Marcia grins at him admiringly. It's funny, she's all tough stuff and hard core but she really gets all girly with this crush on Jake, it cracks me up and its so funny teasing her about it. She goes all red and angry and denies it, but I know it's true.
