(5 years later) I am recording this in a journal so I can regain some of my sanity.  My name is James Arenthall Carver. I grew up in a small town in the middle of Colorado. I had a mom that cared very much and a dad that walked out on me.  I was as only child with little responsibilities. I was in my senior year of high school with many friends. I came to the conclusion one day that something was missing. I dropped out of school, left home and headed for the biggest city I could remember, Colorado Springs. When I saw the city on the horizon it was beautiful and terrifying at the same time. It was around 7 at night when I entered the city and was suddenly shrouded in darkness. The huge buildings that loomed over me amplified the emptiness that I carried.  Every step I took I grew smaller in the sea of the city, being washed away with a unfamiliar face with no voice or will. For three weeks I was alone and miserable, no hope, no light at the end of the tunnel. This was it I was going to die. Standing on top of the building the wind was cool and stiffening. I looked down unafraid at what was below. I fell. The wind flapped against my face. I heard screams as I fell. Then it all stopped. I sat up and looked at my body or at least what was left of the mangled mess that lay before me. I looked around awaiting my judgement but it never came I watched my body get carted away. Then he came, a looming shadow of immense height. He carried a blade sharper than any sword and with a size unproportioned to any man. This was him. This was death. He looked from beneath the hood. He didn't look like the stereotypical skeleton in the robe. He was unmistakably human.  He spoke softly and calmly. "Come with me young one, you are not to be punished but to learn". I looked at him confused "what do you mean". He looked off in the distance and said " you are special I have chosen you to become the next in succession of me you will become the next Death.
