Chapter Thirteen

Valentina

After I dropped off Addy and her brother Lake, I went inside my house. I wanted greet my parents and my adorable little hermana.

“Hola Valentina.” I saw my older brother sitting at the sofa with Maria in his arms.

“Jose!” I rushed to my brother giving him a hug and also being careful with my baby sister.

“Hey, Valentina how are you?” My brother asked.

“Doing pretty good and you?”

“Pretty good as well. I never thought my baby sister would be so cute.”

“I know, right? She’s the cutest and the most adorable baby sister.”

“Yeah she is.” He paused for a moment. “If Lake were to be alive, he would’ve been married right now and have a family by now.”

Lake and Jose were best friends, no, more like brothers. They will always have each other’s back no matter what. I remembered when Jose and Lake got into a huge fight with some bullies in school that were bothering some girls. Jose and Lake stood up for the girls. The fight was unfair though, it was five against two. They fought, but only two were standing. Jose and Lake. After the death of Lake, it took a big part of Jose. He stayed in his room for three weeks. Crying and hardly ever ate.

“I want you to meet someone tomorrow.” I needed my brother to know that his best friend is alive.

“No, I don’t think can. I’m going to be busy with meetings all week because Davis High School is going to be replaced with new buildings. But I think I’m going to be available on Thursday, maybe.”

“Ahh okay.”

“So who is this person I’m going to meet? A boyfriend?” He winked at me.

“No, Dios mío, no! Claro que no!” I can’t believe my brother would think that I’m going to present him a boyfriend.

My brother laughed. “I thought so. I don’t think you’re ready for that yet.” He said sternly.

“Yeah, I know that. The person I want you to meet is an old friend and you’ll be glad to see him.”

“Okayyyy.”

After our conversation, we ate dinner and talked about my brother’s job. It was boring, but gladly it was over. I went to my bedroom, picked my pajamas and took a shower. I came out of my bathroom and saw Joshua lying on my bed.

“Hi, my valentine.” He smiled.

“Que en demoños ases aquí?!” I shouted at him.

“What?” He said in confusion. Obviously he doesn’t speak Spanish.

“I said ‘What the hell are you doing here?’” I put my hand on my face since I had to repeat it, but in English.

“I wanted to see my beautiful valentine.” He said as he smiles at me. I blushed, but I couldn’t let him get to me.

“Get the hell out.” I growled at him.

“Don’t growl at me.” Joshua voice became serious.

“And why not?” I challenged.

“Because I’m your beta mate and you will listen to me.” He pushed me against the wall. I made an ‘oof’ sound.

“Really? Do you have to use force?” Now I was totally angry.

“Why do you push me away?”

“Because you fucking kidnapped me, idiota!” I knee him on the stomach. Push him towards to my bed, grabbed my knife that was hidden on my drawer, and I got on top of him. I put the knife against his neck.

“You wouldn’t.” He said nervously.

“Of course I wouldn’t. There’s a reason I became like this. Is to protect my best friend from getting hurt again.”

Joshua

“Of course I wouldn’t. There’s a reason I became like this. Is to protect my best friend from getting hurt again.” I saw Valentina’s eye begin tear up.

“When Lake and Addy went to go fishing, but the only person who came back was only Addy. She came back crying and covered in blood by her brother’s blood and hers. Her forehead was wounded and blood dripped on her face. And there were wounds on her arm that looked like claws. And I told myself, what would’ve happen if I should have gone with them. Would Lake still be alive? Would I be alive or…dead?”

I never realized that Lake’s death took a huge part of Valentina and Adeline. A few tears fell on my face.

“I made a vow to protect Addy. That’s why I took karate, taekwondo, defense class, kendo, and every single class that included weapons and guns. I needed to learn everything to protect my best friend from ever getting hurt again.”

Valentina could no longer hold her tears back any more, she began to cry and I hugged her to comfort her.

“Shh, it’s okay. I’m here now.” Those were the last words I said to her before she fell asleep. I never thought that Adeline would be so important to Valentina. As beta of the pack, I also vow to protect the Luna and my mate.

I carried her bridal style and laid her on her bed correctly. I didn’t want to leave my mate alone, before I lay next to her. I locked the door making sure no one would disturb us when we wake up. I lay next to her and pulled her towards me. I inhaled her scent. She smelled like roses. I inhaled her scent once more, before I fell asleep.

I hope you enjoyed chapter 13. sorry if it was short. i can't tell though lol. So as i said on chapter 12, i might not add chapter 14 and or 15 cuz of my butt laziness and still trying to figure out what to write. so i'm sorry just in case i don't add the chapter. until next time my werewolf lovers! <3
